I get what ever is on sale LOL.

Gage has an actual collar that is a light blue, but super bright, for the little dogs and myself I have some strips that Velcro onto collars/leashes, I have 6 of them in 4 different colours and they are 5ish inches long.

I use a different colour for each dog so I can tell who's who from a distance when they're racing around in the dark.

Ah never thought of that. :) That must be really cool to see.

I try purchase the cheapest too. As long as they work and have good battery life, but that is hard to know. One can only estimated battery life based on the the type of batteries they use.

I use Orbiloc lights... they clip on to collars 1.5 inches or narrower (I put them on the d-rings of wider collars).

They come in a variety of colours, have a blinking option or a steady light option, are really tough/waterproof/have an awesome battery life/are visible from kilometers away.

I use the flashing option for walking on the road at night, but having it on a steady light is good for offleash walks at night - you can always tell where your dog is. And if you have more than one and give them each their own colour, WHICH dog is where. Love 'em! :)

Yes, the clip on are really handy such.

Another good point you bring up is that they are waterproof.

For my guy, I want to get him the full light up collar, just because I like how it looks. Thus, I don't have one yet, and only have a clip on type.

Actually, I will buy him a few colors, just b/c I can :)

Mine flashes red/white/blue, which is cute until the neighbors are always asking if you know what the police were doing down at the green every night last week.

We've used clear, orange, green, blue & red on the hunting dogs... I personally like the blue & red best.

We used to clip a red & a blue flashing on the hunting dogs so drivers would slow for them. Worked every time.

This is absolute genius. I could have used those when I was dogsitting and had to keep track of a dozen dogs in pitch darkness (fortunately most of them had white markings).
