Okay, well I have these bumps on my chest. LOTS of them, and they are spreading to my shoulders, back, neck, and left arm. My sis thinks they are heat rash. But, hint-I hate showering. Before I got this, I hadn't showered for 3 days and my hair was kinda oily, and I was at the lake for the day; I didn't notice it until we were done intertubing at the lake, and I don't think have the bumps before that. So could they be from my oily hair (I showered that night but they didn't go away). Or is it a rash or what? My dad won't take me to the doctor  I wash it daily, and wash my hair daily, and put rash ointment on it 2-3 times a day, but I still have it... My biggest fear is it staying...HOW DO I GET RID OF IT!? Any ideas? Estimations on how long I will have it? It's kinda itchy, but not too bad.

I got a red, itchy rash a few years ago that kept spreading. I really can't remember if it was bumpy or not, but I think it was. It was, at least, unsightly, because when it spread up to my face I went to the doctor.

I had been at a baseball game sitting under a tree that a few caterpillars fell down. I had knocked a couple off me. The doctor said I had probably been bitten by one and had a rash due to that. He put me on prednisone.

I didn't enjoy some of the side-effects of the prednisone, but it certainly stopped the rash from spreading any more. And the whole thing went away quickly after starting treatment.

I probably went about 3 days with the rash slowly spreading and itching before I decided on going to the doctor, though.

All that said wondering if you were around some biting insect that could have caused a reaction. And, I would think it could be heat rash which I don't think has to be treated...

I get the same bumps (well, I'm not positive, but they look similar to yours)
For me, I thought that it was because of my deodrant. Which, I think it is, because I only get them with that deodrant (that Im stupid enough to use again!) I got them yesterday and they are already gone though.

ETA: heat rash would make sense, actually.
Either way, hope they go away soon!

Not sure what it is. Sometimes you get a reaction from something, especially when you have situations like you describe (days without showering, swimming in a lake, etc.) Could be from something you ate as well. Or I could just be distracted by that first pic ;)

id say a heat rash or an allergy/agrivation rash, if its itchy try a little benadryl or gold bond anti itch cream (which will work for both) it could take days to go away, try not to scratch at it, and stick to using unfragranced lotions/wshower gels ect if at all possible.

mint and teatrea are realy good for "cooling" rashes.

as long as it doesnt look infected/weepy, get sore or spread beyond its localization id just give it time. keep it clean but avoid using clenseres every day, itll dry your skin out and can make rashes worse/agrivate it. instead id stick to showeiring ever other-3 days and then just whipe with warm water and a clean cloth (i prefer to use paper towels) each morning.

if it doesnt go away within a week though, or it gets worse, PLEASE go see a dr even if you have to take yourself...

I'd say heat rash...if you got sunburn, heatstroke, or were in the sun for a VERY long time, or on any medication, it could be the cause. If it doesn't go in away in a few days or gets worse, see a doctor if you can!

Were other people swimming in the lake? Can you find out if they got the rash? Sometimes there's a bacteria or parasite in some lakes at certain times of the year. Can you take a sample to your local health department for testing? (If it doesn't clear up soon) I agree with the Benadryl and/or some cortizone ointment for a few days and see if it will go away. If it's heat rash, it will go away soon. I also would steer clear of harsh soaps. Good luck. Hope it clears up soon.

Benadryl makes a topical spray that's good for that kind of thing, although I'm with Foxy and would prefer to use tea tree oil. It's a good antibacterial and antifungal so it covers a broad spectrum of possible causes and has no side effects.

It's already really clearing up, it's still bumpy but no longer red.

I did go in a hot tub and pool yesterday. But I don't think it made it any worse, or better for that matter. But before getting the bumps, I hadn't touched a pool or hot tub.
