we are moving and will be unable to have our 4 yr old rott and 3 yr old pit. we cannot have them for a while, my guess is 6 months but it could be longer. kenneling is just too expensive. what are my options??

you may be able to find a private person willing to foster them for you, as long as you are willing to pay their expenses (food, vet bills, etc)

good luck

I wouldn't be able to help you. I can't imagine being in that situation. If you don't know someone already your best bet might be to find them good homes.

6mos is a really long time to some people...
I would suggest calling around to dog sitters, dog shelters (sometimes they have foster parents that would be willing to help).
I'd have to agree with Saje. If you don't have a close friend or relative that can help you out, it might be best to rehome them.

I dogsat a friends Lab for 4 months while they were away in London.

Definately look into a "temp home" for your dogs.

6 months isn't all "that long" .. well it is, but its better then forever leaving them :)

Local Shelters or Rescues may be a place to start.
They probably have a list of foster homes and then you can deal with those people individually.

You could also try posting an ad on an online site such as your local craigslist or something.

Also try calling local vets, they may know people who are willing to work with you.

An ad in a local paper.

I am sure you could find someone.

Good Luck
