What Commands does your dog know?

I have only owned Leo since November. I was reflecting today, and realized that he knows a surprising amount of commands. Now, I am not a dog trainer by any means. We have never gone to any classes and I just like to play around with a clicker every once in a while. Which got me thinking, Chaz dogs must know so many more commands! So, I was interested in hearing them. Maybe it will give me some new ideas too.

For this particular thread, I just mean commands (i.e. words that consistently get your dog to do a particular trained task), not words that your dog understands.


Leo knows: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Ok, Heel, "Go Potty", "Go Number Two", "In your crate", "On your mat", "Clean up", "Leave it", "Drop it", "Get it", "Bring it here", Bang Bang (play dead), Shake, High-five, Man (stand on two legs), Around (legs), Through (legs).

No commands, but plenty of cues.



I'm going to do Copper since her list is the shortest:
Sit, paw, down, stand, touch, jump, tunnel, come (lol), up, off, walk it. She'll be learning a bunch more once I'm home, she's really fun to train and super nutty in general.

They both know: sit, down, shake, woof, come, wait, up, off, go potty (kind of), go to bed, leave it (Rowan more than Riff), high five, drop it, and bang (play dead).

Riff knows sit pretty (kind of) and bow (kind of)... lol. He'll get them, I just haven't worked with him consistently enough on those.

Rowan knows "be people" (stand up on hind legs), spin, roll over, perch, wave, "over", "walk it", and other agility commands, and we're working on both "peekaboo" and rebound.

Zora knows: sit, down, stay, wait for your food, Paw left, paw right, highfive, slalom (through my legs), human, big dog (she jumps up on your arm), give me a hug (this is adorable because she puts her front legs around you), perch, walk, roll over, search, jump, crawl, show me/drop it, come here, slow down, beauci (this is amusing. Beacerons like to lay on their backs in a specific way, Zora does it on cue ) and we are currently working on pang pang.

Come, roll, side, down, look, stay, sit, get it, bring it up, up, over, touch, paw, quit (heel), drop it, leave it, go lay down, get, up, off.

well volka is not a trick oriented dog, but at 6 months he solidly knows, sit, down, heel, no, give me 5, stay (and he knows that one pretty good even with external distraction), come,... basic obedience and still working on him every day. soon we will move to guard

All of them! Or, well, a lot of them. At last count we had well over 100 tricks, cues, etc. Then there's situational ones like where "hit it" can mean rebound off a flyball box, a wall, a hip, a foot...

Sit, down, stand, come, stay, wait, back up, hi five (either or both), paw (put a paw on my foot, or put both paws on a target or object), circus (stand on hind legs), pretty, roll over, bow, heel, jump, walk it, tunnel, let's go, leave it, drop, give, go sniff, find it, this way (if he is going the wrong way in agility, or on a hike), right (spin), left (spin), easy (relieve tension on leash), around (right finish), get it, take it, off, mat, and crate.

These are at various levels of stimulus control and some are definitely a work in progress.

Bristol knows her name, lol. And supper and breakfast, she had to choose between eyeballs and brains...eyeballs won out lol. She also sits and shakes a paw, oh and she has a great stay as well. She knew how to lay down but I broke it trying to teach her to roll over, lol.

the basics (sit, down, stay, heel, come, loose leash walking etc ...) back, up, down, hug, shake, high five, leave it, take it, no, and a bunch of others I cant think of right now LOL. she is pretty in tune to me, so she can usually figure out what I want her to do, even if she doesn't really know.

i also have Bono a Bicho frise 8 years and never went to a training school i just trained him myself: he knows: sit, down, up, shake,stay, no, fetch, inside, go outside, go bye bye, come, give kissy, wake up joseph, wake up eric, wake up lea (these are my kids) and few other stuff that he picked up growing up. his role is mainly to cuddle lol

Sit, come, stay, watch your feet (this is for the stroller when he is getting too close so he will move over and not get his feet run over), touch it and tip it. He doesn't know a lot but what he does know he knows really well.
