My SO tends to like small-to-medium sized (20-50lb) easy care breeds that are naturally biddable, intelligent problem-solvers, athletic, handle both heat and cold well. Energetic and eager but not frantic or spastic. He especially likes dogs that *I* am eager to thoroughly train :p.

Things he shies away from include super hairy, fragile-looking (no sighthounds), very large or small, drooly, etc.

We have pretty compatible dog preferences.

He tends to like what he knows. He grew up with a brittany and a corgi, and loves both of those breeds. It was easy to talk him into a Welshie because they're similar to britts.

Generally he likes medium sized athletic dogs who are pretty easy to care for and live with. He loves snuggly and tolerant dogs, as he likes to pick the dog up, swing it upside down, and do all sorts of weird things. lol He likes your typical lab personality, in a smaller body.

He has expressed interest in a GSD, which surprised me, since it doesn't follow his usual trend.

He likes smaller dogs the most.

From what I gather, the first dog he really connected with was an ex's dog that he says was part Papillon. The 15-25lbs range seems to be his favourite.

However, he recently told me that he's not sure he could live with any other breed than a Border Collie in the future.

He would love to get a husky, malamute, german shepherd, bernese mountain dog, tibetan mastiff, rhodesian ridgeback. He would love to get one of each... or at least one of the bunch:rolleyes: But until he's with me he will most likely not get any of them. Well, maybe a bernese mountain dog:p

Any type of dog that appears tough and bully like. He is pretty dog ignorant.

My ex-SO liked pugs. That's probably 97.82247% of why she is now an ex.
I almost fell over laughing at that.

My ex just didn't like dogs. HELLO, STOP ASKING ME WHY WE ARENT TOGETHER ANYMORE AND WHY WE COULDN'T TRY AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.

I'm single, but an ex of mine always wanted a pit bull for a guard dog. By "pit bull" I mean blue hippo. And by "guard dog" I mean a bad-ass looking penis extension.
(Which I really can't deny he needed.)

LOL! Isn't that the truth with so many misguided people getting dogs for their image alone.

BeAu is....supportive of my love of dogs. He loves Zander (who doesn't). But he doesn't like DOGS. Or dog breeds.

He likes OUR dogs. He is excited for NextDog, for example. But that is about as far as it goes.

He's a work in progress.

Josh really likes ACDs, bull terriers, APBT, staffies and corgis. He lately seems to be pretty interested in Xolos too which is one breed we can definitely agree on.

I think Ibizans are starting to grow on him a little bit, but he isn't crazy about them or anything. He know we will always have them though from here on out.

He grew up with Goldens and boxers, but I think would only seek out future boxers. He wants a GSD, and likes huskies but I think that's only based on looks. He likes pit bulls, too, and expresses that he's liked the "puggles" he's met.

Honestly, he likes all dogs. I think unless it was a hairless breed, he'd be fine with it, but if it was up to him he'd seek out a GSD or boxer type (mix) shelter dog

I would have to say labs. At one point he wanted a black one to name Emmet and a yellow one to name Troy. I told him no way. Seens how I would be the one doing all the work, we would not be getting 2 dogs named after football players. But in general he likes a nice laid back and mellow older dog.

I'm single now and most of the guys I have dated have been very intimidated by the dogs. Either cause LoLa is a pit bull or because the GSDs are "scary"!

The one friend I have just ignores the dogs, he could care less.

Can't believe I just found this thread - my SO likes APBT (true, tiny, athletic things...), catahoulas, he thinks he MIGHT like a GSP, ridgeback, or Majestic tree hound.
