A Finnish Spitz. I remember looking in the dog breed book I had, and I thought they were the prettiest of all the breeds.

Then I went through a Basset Hound phase.

I went through a Weimaraner phase, a Rottweiler phase, and an FCR phase.

Well, I never really got out of the FCR phase. They are still my secret crush.

Collie collie collie collie collie collie collie collie collie collie collie.

Seriously I had lassie issues as a kid. Second pick was sheltie.

From maybe ten years old onward I had an obsession with Papillons. I JUST SIMPLY NEEDED TO HAVE ONE. I got Ripley when I was about 12 or 13 and I got into border collies through the agility classes that Ripley and I went to before his kneecaps started giving him too much trouble.

so I guess I kind of wound up with lassie's psychotic cousin. Close enough.

Oh yeah... for phases, I had a huge Doberman phase (which may still actually happen), Rottweiler phase, and American Eskimo phase in my later childhood years LOL... middle school through high school.

I wanted a Gordon Setter in the worst way when I was wee. Not sure why, I had never met one. But I was convinced they were perfection.

Border Collie..I have memories of watching One Man and his Dog with my dad and grandad. My gran had a collie. I loved watching them work.

Finally at 43yrs old I got my collie! .... The two before though were rescues and collie crosses and my family also had GSD and Corgi X when I was young (also from pastoral & herding breeds).

When I was really young I wanted a GSD pretty bad, until my beagle and I were attacked by one that belonged to the neighbors when I was 12. All interest went out the window at that point.

Nothing against them now, but no I wouldn't want one at this point. I've seen far to many health issues associated with them for it to be worth it for me.
