Yesterday my brother moved back home with his dog (lab/Shiba Inu) Gracie. And most likely this is going to be a long term thing. Unfortunately his Pit, Amber has to live with his GF and her parents because Pits are banned in our city. But we are very happy to have Gracie here.

She has known Sawyer and Maggie since she was a tiny puppy. And so she knows that Maggie will cuddle and put up with some of her puppy antics. But she also knows she can't push or try and play rough with her.

She definately seems to view Sawyer as in charge and listens to him and follows his lead.

And she absolutely without a doubt LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES Morrison. They are both about the same size. And I think since Sawyer can sometimes be too much for both of them. Or vice versa. Its nice for them to have each other.

She is however not spayed. Its not something I beleive in pushing on my brother. Since she is his dog and he takes great measures when she's in heat to keep her under lock and key so to speak. But I did offer to help pay for her spay if he ever wanted to have her done and worried about affording it. Again though its his decision. And all three of my dogs are spayed/neutered. BUT Morrison especially seems obsessed with her hoo ha lol and has tried to mount her. And occasionally has succeeded. The only thing that works then is to spray him with a water bottle because NOTHING can distract him. Atleast none of his usual vocal cues for "off", "no", or "leave it". And bribes don't matter.

So if anyone has any advice on how handle that situation that would be great. I hate spraying him with water because he absolutely hates it. It does work though. But if I have other options that would be cool. Honestly im holding out hope that I can maybe train this out of him.

But other than that. At the end of day two things are going pretty well with dog number 4 under our roof lol.

You've got a houseful, Pix!

Sometimes just staying after a dog about changing a behavior will do the trick, and you can gradually back off of the methods you have to use -- start with the spray and command, then work toward using the spray less and less until the command is all that's necessary, and then finally rarely even having to use that.
