Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Similar to all short-coated dogs, the Doberman Pinscher is prone to intestinal diseases. This particularly happens in cold weather so it is a good idea to keep the dog moving at all times and to dry it well when it comes back indoors.
Really. I guess I am killing the cocker kids as unless they are snowball covered, I dry feet and nothing else. And if my prima donna wants to stand around in the cold I sure do let her.

Sounds like something from some moron's blog. The internet is, unfortunately, littered with it. People passing off random statements or simply copying from other's posts and stating them as "facts". :dunno:

That is a weird statement. Maybe I'm missing something but what does being dry have to do with intestinal problems? I've never bothered to dry the boys when they come in during the winter. Peewees coat rarely lets the wet get down to the skin and ivan isn't out long enough to get wet. LOl

My Xena has shortish hair and she likes to "spin dry" with the wet dog zoomies once she comes in from bad weather. Hopefully she'll live.

We have intestinal distress when it's raining because Byron thinks he will melt and he holds it, but nothing with the cold! And he has been out in the cold while we take care of horses for hours the last couple days and the last eleven years of his life lol!

Somones vet probably said that to shut them up. Sad but true.

Hey Joce.. Cider and Byron must be littermates then.. Cider is a prissy pansy, who has to be yelled at to tiptoe off the patio stones as it is wet outside. She holds it for as long as possible, goes out and will come back in again having not gone..

So I'm not the only one yelling "go poop" and praying no one can hear me! So glad we have no neighbors right now!

And they learn to fake it. They run quick off the deck and back to the door and I watch and know he didn't go so I have to go stand by him and get soaked to lol!

No! It's not just you. 'Get of my porch, get off my porch and POOP NOOOOOW!!!'

I stand at the door too. Smudge goes and does whatever he's mos desperate to do, tell him go more and he takes off. Her, we have no pee squats, and tiptoes around the yard and back again hoping I wasn't watching.. as she comes back to the door and it's another round off off my porch!

I thought that was just a Terrier phobia, lol. I have to go out in the rain -- or if the ground is wet -- with Tallulah.

Sometimes she will balance on her front feet and air squat in the back so that only the front feet get wet. It's actually a pretty impressive demonstration of core strength, lol. Or she will hang her back end off the last step on the deck.

That's why smudge is now spastic. He was on my lap while I was reading said blog twaddle and now he's worried about the unnamed intestinal diseases as I don't towel him when he comes in...

My boyfriend's dog will cry at the back door to go out, then realize it's cold and/or wet, and refuse to go out. I'm mean, though--since it's never actually cold here, I just shove him outside and watch him until he pees.

Elsie loves the rain, though, and likes to race through the mud,
