I hope Laurelin shows up in this thread because she has the best story by far. :lol-sign:
Are you talking about when the papillons were called Chinchillas? That is my favorite.

I also had someone ask if they were sugar gliders once. I don't even...

The paps usually get chihuahua, papillon, or pomeranian. Sometimes cavalier or pekignese. We also get designer breed guesses sometimes. Poodle and what? There was a lady with a border collie that told me they look like shih tzus. Are you SURE they're not part shih tzu? Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure she'd ever seen a shih tzu before.

Hank gets four guesses most often and about the same amount of time !) Heeler 2) Jack Russell 3) Rat Terrier 4) Fox Terrier. Fox terrier seems pretty out there because when do you ever see fox terriers? But I get asked a lot. Most people tell me he looks like 'maybe some heeler and jack russell'.

I had a dad point to Ru and ask his preschooler "What kind of dog is that?" The kid loudly declared "A prairiedog!"

Brisbane gets a lot of "Heeler and..." Nobody ever thinks Briz is a purebred anything.

Pirate is the only one who is ever misidentified. He always gets chocolate Labrador Retriever.

Bayleigh is a mutt but people usually call her Yorkie (which is half correct). At the CAT last week, someone thought she was a purebred Silky Terrier. I had to laugh at that one. There was a purebred Silky standing next to us. They looked NOTHING alike.

I mostly get "She's soooooo cute. What is she?" "A Sheltie." "Oh, I thought so!"

Sometimes, I will say Shetland Sheepdog. Just depends on the person asking. I did have someone tell me I had a Toy Collie, he had a miniature that had just died. Because you know, there are three sized Collies.

Scout is a small (under 30 pounds), short-docked, black roan French Brittany. I get asked a lot what she is and it amuses me to ask people to guess, but my favourite comment was "can I say hi to your Large Munsterlander"?

Dingo. All. The. Time. Because who wouldn't want to fly a feral dog all the way from Australia to be a loving family pet?

A lot of people also ask if she's a German Shepherd, which doesn't make much sense to me because that' s a pretty common breed. But I will say a good percentage of people that see her know she's an ACD (or at least a "blue heeler").

Harrison so far has been called "a lovely example of a GSD" "Greyhound and Shepherd mix?" and "GSD and what??"

Indy has been called a Hyena. Their next Fetching Tags are going to say "Not a German Shepherd" and "Not a Hyena" lol

She's also gotten the shepherd/greyhound, pit bull, ect.

And everyone "has one at home just like that!!"

Rigby seems to get the weirdest guesses.
First was our old vet that looked her up and down and said "well that's gotta be mostly jack russell" (Rigby....Ruby I'd understand....not Rigby).

Then at a show about a year or so back some guy looked at Rigby and said "I've got a pit bull at home too! He looks just like yours"

And for the longest time, she used to get Basenji mix surprisingly frequently.

And Oz gets called a puppy a lot. Nevermind his incredibly white/grey face, ear tips, and back lol

Except for the docked tail, small I would understand, but Large Munsterlander?

A teenage kid once asked if Watson was a yorkie. Even his parents laughed at him for that one.

He's gotten beagle a bunch of times.

Usually he just gets brittany or "springer" which are both close enough. It's rare that someone actually knows he's a Welshie.

This occurs daily, as I have a Bouvier des Flandres, and there are almost none around these parts.

90% of the time he's a doodle
5% he's a portugese water dog
5% he's a schnauzer

At the teacup trial this weekend I was asked if Hank was a bird dog. That's the second time I've been asked that. (they mean pointer or GSP)

Buster was mistaken for a beagle a lot. At least they are in the hound group lol. I haven't had any weird breed guesses with Dixie & Rudy. My brother's dog has been asked if he is a purebred Lab. He's not he has Husky in him and Lab. And possibly great dane.

A lot I get Bullmastiff which is actually close, since a Mastiff x English bulldog is what made the Bullmastiff 500 or so years ago.

Since all the instant fame of Hulk, I get a lot of is that one of those giant pitbulls, and generally where stupid debate starts, when I say no he is a Mastiff or known as a English Mastiff.
Next question is always how much does he weigh, and when I tell them 175ish, I get but Hulk is the worlds largest dog at 175, to which I correct them that he is 173, and not close to the world tallest, longest, or heaviest.
Heaviest is Cromwell a Mastiff that is 22 stone or 312lbs currently.
