Bigdogs has never explained herself.
Bigdogs NEVER explains herself. Her (?) posts continually present situations that contain potentially serious problems, that cause a reaction (completely out of concern for the dogs and puppies she's "helping"). All her posts following that ignore any advice or criticism, and pretend like nothing has been said at all, only continuing to frustrate those who are trying to help.

Why take part in a forum if only to show off your ignorance and not even make the attempt to learn or improve yourself?

Yup, that's a troll if I've ever seen one.

I don't have time to answer every post. I'm sort of busy here. But I do appreciate all of the good advice.

Here's the way I look at it:

If YOU are not prepared to front the costs of care and YOU are not prepared to properly care for them, then YOU do NOT take them in!

Rescuing doesn't mean you take them in only to turn around the same day and try to pawn them off on someone else. That's just adding to the problem.

Exactly. I'm not kissing the ass of every "rescuer" that decides to take in the litter of puppies in the parking lot to throw them at new owners the next week, unhealthy and unscreened.

You can't come to a forum full of people concerned with canine welfare, post over and over about your ridiculous rescue attempts, and then come back and act surprised when we get a bit upset and begin throwing advice and desperate suggestions all over you.

I understand.

By the way, I have never made myself out to be a "Rescue". I just took in some dogs and puppies.

There have been other instances where I handled things differently, such as the box of pups I found on the porch, and the next day called animal control to come and get them. Or the dobie/GSD mix I found in the barn and decided to keep, although I spent lots of $$ on vet bills. Or the big dogs whom I kept here for a month before finding them a new home. Or the little white pup I found at the shopping center and took to the shelter immediately. Or the female Rottweiler I found scavaging for food in the garbage, she had recently had pups, the dried afterbirth was still hanging out of her rear end, and she looked like she had just escaped from a concentration camp. I drove around with her for twenty minutes before deciding to take her to the shelter. Or the beagle whom I kept for a week until I located her owner.

Every situation is different.

Yes, but in this situation its 11 puppies and a mother, and a litter of other puppies who are NOT being health checked, vaccinated, or kept for the appropriate amount of time.

I'm new, but can I just say that as a visitor I noticed that the ads on here are all about buying pets? I mean one said "choose a puppy from thousands of ads"; not really very responsible right? So please stop with the 'holier than thou' attitude a lot of you seem to have adopted with this girl.

The girl is doing her best and perhaps being a bit more supportive rather than bashing her is the way to go. Vetting is way more important than getting cash out of people. Even visiting prospective homes to see if they're suitable is advisable, more than charging for a dog.

Sometimes the most loving owner is not always the richest.

ALL my pets are rescues - even my fish - all were bought (except for the fish, they were abandoned) from rescues. But the best one was my cat - we were vetted thoroughly and only had to pay what we could afford whether that was £1 or a £100.

The dogs and cavies were a set price and very expensive (there was no vetting except to see if we'd owned animals before). We managed, but I have to say they weren't as spoilt with stuff as the cat as we just didn't have the readies left over to do it. I think vetting is far more important than getting cash out of someone to 'prove' their legitimate in wanting an animal.

I also volunteer at an dog rescue - one dog I am working with was bought as a puppy for a £100, its a mixed breed, it was then tied up in a garden with no shelter. It stayed there for three YEARS. No comfort, no love and no contact, except when food and water was given or the owner felt like beating him.

Paying for an animal doesn't automatically make the purchaser a wonderful and responsible pet owner. This dog is as damaged as if his legs were broken; its heart breaking to see him so hand shy and I have to spend loads of time with him to show him all humans are not bad. He's finally coming round, but its taken a huge amount of time. He's up for adoption and the rescue operates a 'what you can afford' donation system for their rehoming - but they VET potential new owners thoroughly. I constantly pray he will find someone to love him soon; he's been there nearly a year already.

I'd have him if it wasn't for the fact that I have two dogs already and the oldest is 17 and getting frail. He needs a lot of care and tlc for an old boy, and I also have an ongoing illness with one of my cavies that needs lots of attention.

But, as I said, VETTING is the way to go, not getting cash. So give the girl a break, please. Sometimes berating and badgering people isn't going to help them do the right thing.

Maybe you should get to know the forum before you start in with your insults.

I dont know where the ads come from, im sure most members done... almost everyone on this forum, ALL of the longtime members believe in RESCUE OR RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS ONLY.

And YOUR gonna tell us all in your FIRST post, what kind of attitude we have.

If I had to guess, I would say your a friend, relative of BigDogs and here to start Trouble (oh look thats your username!)

Umm..what does ads on a forum have to do with the people on the forum? LOL. Yes, those are OUR ads! (Sarcasm).

I think this person may be the same to be honest. Funny their first post is in this thread.

ah, a few spare moments to say something.

One more mystery puppy to go. Yes, I'm honest. I'm telling the people that these are indeed mystery pups. I haven't seen the parents. I don't know what breed(s) they are. All I know is that I've dewormed them and had them on di-methox solution since they got here. I've told everyone that the pups need vaccinated asap and to take their pups to the vet asap. That's why they are free pups....

The pitbull pups will be dewormed and vaccinated before finding homes for them. But then they won't be free. I have costs of feeding and neutering the parents, and costs of vaccinating and deworming, and of course, the cost of loving and wanting to keep every one of them but knowing that they will all have to go to new homes. But I can enjoy them while they're here.

I fully believe there should be an adoption fee when rehoming pets, I don't think the cost of altering the adults dogs should factor into the puppy fees though. Unless you meant that fee would be for when the adults are rehomed. I'm very tired and deciphering things seems to come hard this evening. :p

Again, you are not getting the point. Nobody cares they are mixed breed puppies, that is NOT what everyone is saying to be honest about. Stop with all this **** purebred crap. That is the least of anyone's concerns.

What I personally am concerned about is you are giving away puppies without vaccinations, who are possibly sick, and you didn't keep them long enough to make sure they are healthy,to anyone. No contract, no nothing.

The cost of loving them? What?

All of the mystery pups have gone to their new homes. I want to thank everyone for their advice and encouragement during this time.

And a special round of applause for all those great families who took in a pup or two. I think they are the real heroes here.

Funny you didn't acknowledge anyone's advice, or take anyone's advice. And still did whatever you wanted, even it if it wasn't good for those puppies.

Oh god can we drop it now? I think 3 days is enough to repeat the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again.
