The pups are ALIVE.

In my books, that is a HUGE right considering they may have just died.

HUGE.

I am sorry, but there are good ways of doing things, bad ways and then just ways.

Good ways are sterilising, being perfect, immunising, buying fresh steak and getting gucci clothes for your dog.

Bad ways are dumping them in a box to freeze.

Ways are making sure they are not DEAD. Simple as.

HUGE list of rescues in Indiana ;) (A lot of are NOT purebred specific). (And most purebred rescued I know rescue mixed breeds as well, they are rescues for god sakes. They are there to HELP dogs.
Indiana-PAW Super Database of Indiana Animal Welfare Groups & National Groups That Serve Indiana

And yes, she could take those puppies to a place where they will get what they need. If you are going to rescue, you need to do certain things the RIGHT way. She doesn't have a contract for these animals. They are not vaccinated. She has had them what, 2 days? And she has already started getting rid of them. They could be SICK right now. How fair would it be to the new adopters if these puppies developed parvo simply because they were not kept long enough at Bigdogs house to determine their health status, AND because they were not vaccinated?

I know my vet wouldn't take them. What makes you so certain hers would?

She IS caring for them.

They're not dead. They're not GOING to die.

I got Bodhi at 6 weeks. From a similar situation - except Bo was an oops and never dumped.

Her "mum" loved those puppies and sent them away to amazing homes (ME for one ;) ) but she didn't vaccinate them, or flea them.

WE did that. She didn't have the money too.

That is completely different. He was BORN in this person's home. Bigdogs took them in, knowing she couldn't properly take care of them the way a rescue could. Yes, its wonderful they were taken in from the cold. BUT there are things bigdogs could easily do. Such as keeping them for a week longer before getting rid of them. How hard is that? Vaccinating them. Sending a simple adoption application to possible new homes. Asking for vet references. (Does that cost money? No..simple phone call). And making sure she has a contract, so that these puppies will be spayed and neutered and not add to the overpopulation down the line. But if she can't do that, and is just handing them out before she even knows they are healthy enough (They could be sick right now). That is irresponsible, and they would be better off at a rescue. (Who could do all those things, AND more).

So they get to live in a small vet cage?

Why do you assume the vet would take better care of them? They're human, not superhuman.

Balls.

Sorry but utter balls.

We don't live in perfect twinkle sparkle land where the faeries skip with the pixies and we all live in our perfect homes.

The dogs are alive - that is a **** sight more than what could have been expected.

Growing in a cramped smelly rescue without 100% undivided attention is NOT better than being in a home.

Leaving a week early will not destroy those puppies mentally or physically.. Bodhi is not mentally scarred or full of issues because I got her at 6 weeks.

It is not ideal, but it's better than living in a box or a kennel.

See, me and my friend take in unwanted dogs, and abused dogs. We have a connection with a rescue, who does all those things for us. But we foster them. It wouldn't be hard for bigdogs to have a connection with a REAL rescue. The dogs we foster are also posted on Petfinder, and we do advertise on CL too (BUT, the potential adopters have to fill out the rescue's adoption fee). It all works out well for the dogs/puppies.

But bigdogs is doing her own thing, stating she is a rescue. But so many irresponsible things are going on, that is doing no good for the new owners, the puppies, the overpopulation (if these dogs don't ever get spayed and neutered, and end up with litters).

and MOST rescues foster out. In fact I have 2 lil 7-8 week old puppies at my house from the rescue ;)

they now have ALL their shots that can be had at this age, flea and heartworm meds, and both are getting spayed tomorrow and coming back home with us.

As I stated, she can be the foster parent, but the rescue can take care of them. A LOT of rescues do this. Every rescue I have ever seen does not have puppies at the actual rescue location, but the puppies are automatically sent to foster homes. So they ARE in someones home, AND taken care of properly (They are health checked, kept the appropriate amount of time, vaccinated!!!).

Im glad the puppies were saved and alive and I think its a great thing.

But Im just getting emotional about it because I took in a litter of 4 day old kittens a few years ago and I didnt have the proper resources and EVERY one of them ended up dying from distemper. It took 4 weeks for them to all die, and it broke my heart every time. (There were 5.) Given the chance to rescue those kittens again, I would have given them to the RESCUE THAT OFFERED TO TAKE THEM FROM ME. So my regret of a certain situation that I could have handled differently is causing me to think maybe the OP is in over her head as well.

I never once doubted her intentions, I am sure they were good.

I think you all need to get down off your soap boxes and open your eyes and smell the coffee.

A living pup is better than a dead one.

I think the dog PC police are going into overdrive this week.

You may all work in rescues, but I work in the real world, and in the real world you do what you gotta do sometimes....

Yes, the pups are alive. But how easy would it be for bigdogs, RIGHT now, to find a rescue to take them where they will get all they need? Not hard. But instead, she is just handing them off to unsuspecting people who could end up with a very sick puppy due to lack of bigdogs keeping them to make sure they are healthy, and because of the lack of vaccinations.

So answer this - all I want is an A or B answer - NOTHING else.

Which is best - A or B:

A) dog aged 6 weeks left in a box in the snow?

B) dog in a new house aged 6 weeks in the warm?

How are they unsuspecting if she tells them their background?

You are implying she will hand them over and state nothing about their background?

If they are sick, they will be sick together, or seperately in their new homes.

I imagine it will be more effective to have 6 new mums and dads each paying for a sick pup individually than one person/rescue paying for 6 pups alone.
