hello!

well today was the day. We went to pick up our new sheltie! We named him Laddie. He's about two years old. Got him from a rescue group. He was all the way in northern quebec so he had a long trip today.

He is absolutely huge! I can't believe how big he is, if someone would tell me he's part collie I would believe them right away haha. Doesn't matter tho, Penny is a bit oversized too so they make a good pair.

But boy am I gonna have my hands full with this one... he's such a sweetheart already but not trained at all!! At first we figured it's because he's from a french town so used to french speaking but my mom in law is french and none of the french words work on him either. After being inside for like five minutes he's pee'd twice already! (yeah inside...) After already having gone outside like five times. Not coz his blatter is full or anything no just a casual I-live-here-this-is-my-spot-pee. Now he hasn't been fixed yet, has got an appointment for the 24th. Will this help at all? Would it be from stress? new place? Or really just coz he's had no training?

I will be browsing the training forum quite a bit the next couple of days. He's such a sweet boy tho! i'm sure with lots of love attention and training he'll make a perfect pet. Him and Penny seem to be getting along really well so far. My hubby took the day off work tomorrow to be with the two of them:)

Okay well sorry for the long post, I will end it with some pictures

and wow lol great minds think alike! Our previous Sheltie male was named Laddie :) Named him that b/c it was scottish for boy - Shelties originate on the Shetland Isles :)

SUCH a handsome boy!! :)

Soo glad everything worked out for you guys!!

Definately have to make a trip up this way so we can have a "Sheltie/Belgian play day!!"

Awwwww thats so nice

what a lucky dog to go home with you! I just love hearing about rescues that is so admirable.

Hugo was just neutered and he stopped peeing in the house a few months ago but when he got home he peed on the carpet a few times. I think he was just stressed out and didn't care.

Im sure your doggie will be just fine, keep your sense of humor and just work at the traning. :D

congrats!!

What a pretty lad!

The peeing is likely a combination of all of those factors . . . You'll be able to overcome all that before too long though - I've got faith in you - and we've got Doc and Dober and so many others to help ;)
