I know that vets are busy. but not returning my phone calls is just ridiculous. I have been using this vet for years, and I hate to say it... but I dont think I am ever coming back.

I never saw the vet today (skyler had eye trauma) i just dropped him off, and picked him up later in the afternoon. A receptionist told me Skyler was ready, so i went to pick him up. The vet never came out and talked to me. However i had a detailed report of what she found, but i had questions and the receptionist of course could not answer. So I asked if they could have the vet call me, and they said she would.
they closed 45 minutes ago and never returned my call!

Two weeks ago I called to schedule a rabies shot. They put me on hold and left me there for 25 minutes. I hung up, and I didnt call them back because it was 5 minutes before closing.

My dad used to take his dogs there. one of his dogs, Luna has a bullet wound and possibly a bullet stuck in the side of her face (maybe a bb, or tiny bullet)
Luna is highly aggressive and no one can even touch her. He had this dog since it was a pup, but you cannot lay hands on her (she is wolf/chow hybrid)
so they have just been spiking her food with anti biotics.
She got better, then got bad again. Dad called them and left a message for the vet to call him back. two days later... still no call. he called them again, left a message to be called back (this was weeks ago) and never heard back from them.

My neighbor took her puppy in because he was sick. he had whip worms very badly. but also... very funky ears that smell like DEATH.
the vet looked in his ears, cleaned them out and never said anything else about them, and didnt give them any meds for his ears. just treated him for the worms.

A few years ago I had a border collie that came from a high kill rural shelter. Food and water would always come out of his nose and he would sneeze alot. I took him in to this vet and she couldnt figure it out.
I took him to another vet, and right away they found a big cleft pallet.

is it just me, or is all of this ridiculous!
I hate to go to another vet, because I am also her groomer (i dont work in her building, she sends all her business as far as grooming goes to me)

I'd get a new vet. I quit going to a vet because he scruffed Yoshi and drug her to the middle of the room even though she was more than willing to follow him on her own.

Your situation is even worse since it actually has to do with how the care is being administered or what is going on. I would have started looking the minute I left.

Wow, I could've diagnosed that.

Yes, switch vets. Hopefully they won't notice you're gone and will keep sending you business.

she finally DID call me back (to my surprise)
i told her that i thought it sounded like Horner's Syndrome.
she said she didnt think so.

called me back 10 minutes later... "amanda, i think you are right, i think it is Horner's"

so i know more than her? what...?

Oh my goodness, I'd definitely be switching after all of that.

We left our vet of 15 years just because he was rude and condescending. We never had an issue with the medical side of things and absolutely loved the rest of his staff. So definitely, if my vet had a habit of misdiagnosing things and I could never get hold of them... I'd be looking elsewhere asap. Vets are everywhere.

Yeah, I'd switch. That's crazy. Simply not returning a phone call once might be okay - you never know, maybe they had am emergency come in, maybe the receptionist failed to pass on your message, anything could happen. but repeatedly, and then the other stuff on top of it? Switch.

I'd switch.
I love our vet, but not some of the other a-holes in the office. I've even excused myself when a vet has walked in other than the one I like, and rescheduled.

I agree with the others. This sounds like an incompetent vet. You want your dog to have the best treatment possible and it isn't going to come via this vet. Plain and simple. Yes, I could have diagnosed the cleft palate too. Sheesh!
