Ok I've posted on 4 dog forums, 2 cat forums and a fish forum. I'll tell you what happens with them. Make sure you of course interview the people since I have no idea how much knowledge the cat or fish people have of dogs. Maybe I'll refer them here.

Hi, I'm so sorry, but my friend in NC can't take her. She recently found out her Mom has cancer, and has to go take care of her in Virginia, so she's got her hands full. So Sorry!!

Tosca,

Contact "Cubby" on Dogs with Blogs. I think his "mother" does boxer rescue, as they are always posting about boxer rescue and such.

Thanks Maxy!

It's okay Scooter, thanks so much for trying!

I've heard back from a couple rescues already. No commitment yet, just more questions. Maybe they realize that I've been trying on my own for the last couple months with no luck and things are getting serious now. Let's all cross our fingers.

I know this is irrelevant - but she looks like chow mix to me..

Maybe you can pull some strings with boxer or chow rescue?? They sometimes take mixes.. And if you tell her story too.

She is gorgeous - are there definately no ways of convincing your landlord for some more time??? What's one more dog to his property?

I thought Chow when we first found her too, then a bunch of people said they didn't think she has any Chow in her... I contacted all the Boxer rescues I could find in the Carolinas, but perhaps I could try the Chow ones too.

As far as my landlord goes, he "doesn't want the carpet to get torn up". He has a "one dog limit" and he "doesn't understand" why we can't take her to the SPCA. Uh, maybe because she'll be put down? When we first took her in, we thought about giving her to the SPCA, because we thought they were no kill. Turns out that they are most definitely a kill shelter. The woman at the intake facility said, "If you care about this dog, don't bring her here". That's all I needed to know.

It's okay Doggies4, just send us some good thoughts!

Have you tried listing her on craigslist? Craigslist allows animal adoption listings. That was how we were able to find Tengu a good home when her separation anxiety was too much for her to not be in the same room as one of us without throwing up. Pictures do help a lot! When I first posted her I got about 50 replies, most of them idiotic (would she be ok if I left her alone in the house for 10 hours every day? ). After wading through them and meeting a few of the saner folks, we did find her a wonderful home with a retired couple, and they even let us visit her sometimes. Give it a try, you may find her the perfect home through that means.

Can you offer the landlord a sum of money to hold against any potentially "ripped up" carpet?

One of my tenants called me this week all upset. She told me her dog chewed a huge piece out of the living room carpet and she thought I would evict her. She offered to replace the rug. I said yes. So what's the big deal? It's not like you guys are some irresponsible transients.

Thanks so much Jess! I emailed them as well, but it never hurts to get her some extra attention.

One of the other forum members recommended Wake County SPCA. The person said they are EXCELLENT and carefully screen homes. They also adopt out pit mixes so her bully look should be no problem. I found the site but Can't find if it says no kill any where, I might just be tired. http://www.spcawake.org/site/PageServer?pagename=homepage
We contacted them, and the woman we spoke to said that if we care about Zoey, we should NOT bring her there. They won't guarantee to keep her alive fore more than 5 days and they won't let you know if she's put down or taken to the adoption facility.

He already has a $1095 security deposit plus a $250 non refundable pet fee. How much more can we give him?  Plus we have to have the carpets cleaned and flea treated on our dime before we move out. Maybe I should remind him about that?

Me too, Dena... that's still an option, but I just worry about how she would react to being shipped that far and greeted by strangers. She gets really scared when she's thrown into new situations and can be somewhat wary of strangers. It took us a while to gain her trust. :( It's tough, because I know Jamie would give her a wonderful home... but she couldn't be farther away....
