This is my second valentines day since Jim died. We were together for 12 years. I went to the store today, and bought some fake roses, some goofy collars and a bag of training treats...I am going to do my valentine with the ones that love me most now. Gave me something to look forward to....hint..hint..i got them some marshmallows to roast on the big day...we will have fun. Join us!
I am taking the pics tomorrow, they are my valentine to myself. I will post as soon as they get back.

It will be just another day. Charley doesn't even remember my birthday, except late that night when he always says he should have at least taken me to dinner. [sigh]

I'll wait until the day after and buy some good Valentines' chocolates when they've been reduced, lol!

One day at the tute, by teacher/god of art was walking thru the studio...looking at us in disbelief..he said "it's valentine's day, what is wrong with you all"..he was right. I put away what I was working on and made valentines all afternoon. It really felt good. His name was Steven Sidelinger, and was my all time favorite teacher. I didn't have a love at that time for example a boyfriend, but I did have lots of people that I loved. I made one for each. I have tried never to let that day slip by me again. Who said it was just for lovers, can't it be a day to celebrate love for all?

We don't make a big deal, either. Toooooo crowded to go out to dinner, I don't eat candy, and forget about flowers.........I'd rather use the cash for something practical. I may surprise Dave and make a special dinner Sat. evening...throw in a couple candles...............then curl up..................only to have 2 dogs in-between us. Such romance.

Normally, Tony and I don't do anything but this year we teamed up with good friends of ours and going out to eat at an awesome resturaunt (prime rib specialty!). The resturaunt itself is a Boxcar from an old train. Really cool. Then that is going to be followed by a party at our local American Legion and we've entered into a makeshift Newlywed Game. Should be interesting.

Hi Debi,

You only live once. No matter how old or how young, make it special. I can give you some ideas from subtle to shocking for surprising your mate. If you are married or involved and are happily so, don't pass up this opportunity. Memories are really all we have. Make ones that will bring smiles to your face for years to come.

Every day is Valentines' Day with my three pups!

Truthfully I never liked Valentines' Day when I was a kid. I felt compelled to give everyone a card because I couldn't stand hurting anyone's feelings, but I felt like such a hypocrite - giving out valentines that said things I didn't mean!

What can I say, I was a strange kid . . . who, it can be argued, turned into a strange adult . . .

LOL.........Renee, I was the opposite...I LOVED Valentines day as a kid. I actually thought all those valentines were written ESPECIALLY for me! How funny........was quite a few years before I realized they were just manufactured cards kids HAD to give out!! Makes me laugh to this day. :)

This just made me remember when I was in the 6th grade and had a huge crush on this boy in my class. I gave this boy a valentine's card with only my phone number on it. ( I was soooo bad  ) Well, he got the card and yelled out to the class "who's phone number is blah blah blah" Well, my best friend at the time thought it was a contest or something  and yelled out that the phone number was mine. I was so embarrassed!

I don't really like Valentines day. It sucks if your single, but it sucks if your with someone because they usually forget about it any way. So, I"m not a big fan of Valentines Day. I wish they would just get rid of it.

I've never really gotten excited about valentines day, just another day for hubby to forget. But one year I had these coupons for kids, things like "get out of doing dishes", "1 free staying up until 10", ect. I got the bright idea to invent a valentines man. So I started Feb 1st. The girls would come home from school to find something on their bed, maybe a box of candy hearts, maybe a coupon, maybe just some silly valentine card. Then on Valentine day I'd leave the bigger item like maybe a chocolate heart. Each one had a note "from the valentine man". The girls were so excited. Each year they'd start talking about how excited they was the valentine man would be coming soon.

The last 3 years there hasnt been a valentine man since the girls have their own place now and I still find myself looking at the valentine stuff wishing I had a way of making him show up at their places. And they still talk about the valentine man. They loved it and I loved seeing the looks on their faces. I have a feeling the girls will bring the valentine man alive again with their own kids.

Now that idea is genius!!!

On Valentine's day, my wife and I spoil the kids as it's more of a thrill for them than anything else - kind of like Christmas is. However, once the kids are in bed, we usually have a nice dinner and a quiet evening to ourselves....although Jake will likely have something to say about that this year :)
