I am looking at getting a tv converter box (to get a few free channels), but it's all very confusing to me.

Basically I have a older tv like this (the one in front lol):
http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/doc/files/2011/11/tossed_tvs_386px.jpg

It has the standard red/white/yellow hook-ups, cable hook-up, and the S-cord (whatever it's called) hook-up.

Reading the reviews on amazon I want this converter box:

I know the ratings are kinda mid-grade.

Is it compatible with my old tv? I would need an antenna, right? (& supposedly outdoor antennas work better?)

I may have read the OP wrong. If your TV has the red white and yellow connections or a coax, threaded antenna connector, this box will work.

You will get a better picture using the RWY cable over the coax.
