We trapped this stray who has been coming in our yard playing with Annie lately. She has been totally friendly with Annie (we live out in the country) but I always call Annie in when I catch them just to be safe. We live out in the country so we have several acres and the dog has been coming around since we moved in a few months ago. She has torn up our trash a few times and obliterated a pair of Chloe's shoes so she has been a bit of a nuisance but also I have seen her as far away as a busy intersection about 1 1/2 miles down the road and we had single digit temps just a few nights ago so she isn't safe. So we decided to trap her (she is extremely afraid of people so there was no other feasible way) and take her to the shelter where we got Annie.

We have been trying almost a week and got her this morning. It's Sunday and we can't bring her in until tomorrow so we put in a blanket, some food, water, and a chew. After catching her in realized that' I think she's pregnant! I think we are getting her off the streets just in time. Poor baby. She's so scared and sweet. Looks like a blue heeler mix.

What do y'all think? Pregnant?

Looks pregnant to me. She's adorable! I wish I was close/in a position to take her. My goal is to eventually foster girls like this and their puppies.

She has since laid on her side and there is no longer any question about her being pregnant! I'm certain.

I know, she is so pretty. I would love to keep her and adopt out the pups but my husband would never consider it and it's not practically feasible for us anyway. Annie is still new to us and we are all still adjusting to having a dog again (It's going wonderfully, but we are still getting in the groove of having one dog) and Annie and Chloe take up all my free time.

Nothing in those pictures scream pregnant to me, but that's JMO.

If you have a good rescue or shelter near you I'd contact them and see what your options are.

No she definitely is. It's just hard to get good pics. Her nipples are swollen, starting to fill with milk, and her belly is rounded, protruding, and very firm.

As I stated, she is going to a shelter first thing in the am.

Very cute dog! Definitely a cattle dog mix. Not sure you're area, but I'd look into an ACD rescue. They'd definitely take a dog like this!

I completely agree. Either ACD rescue or general herding dog rescue, if possible. :)

Her face looks a lot like Rider!

Thanks guys. I emailed the cattle and herding dog rescue of Arkansas as well as my obedience instructor, who has raised/trained a few ACD's. Maybe I will find her some better help than the shelter, although the one I would take her to is super connected to tons of rescues, even out.of state, etc. If I can't get her into one they may have more pull.

Awesome! Hopefully they respond or the shelter can set up something with them. If she weren't pregnant, I'd recommend contacting One Heeler At A Time in IN. Diane specializes in feral dogs.
