Top 3 breeds you'll want someday and why?

Hmmm... only 3 breeds... that makes it hard :D

1) Another Shar Pei or Shar pei mix. I love their personalities. I still worry about the health issues, but they are just so fun and quirky!

2) A Tamaskan...we have a member at our Kennel Club that has them and her dogs are fantastic. So if she ever has pups I told her I would like one. I am absolutely over the moon with one of her females!

3) Probably another Basenji. I am involved in the breed and know many of the folks in the breed around my area. I adore Watson's breeder and her dogs. I would know exactly what I am getting :)

I don't honestly know if I want 3 different breeds in the future as weird as that sounds. I used to want so many different breeds and couldn't wait to try them out! Now, I feel like I don't need or really want anything else. Perhaps and most likely I will end up with something different just to mix things up, but I don't plan on it for the foreseeable future.

Standard poodle: I am on my second now, and they are just the breed for me! Both of my boys have been utterly fantastic dogs! I will Always have a poodle in my life. My husband adores Draco, and has really grown on the breed (he is just a dog guy no matter what). We have just really grown to love the non-shedding, and don't know if we want that to change. Hopefully next year sometime we may be getting another boy actually...

Bernese Mtn. dog: This is my husbands dream dog. He isn't so sure anymore though because of the health issues and short life span. Great dogs though!

Another possibility is whatever dog I adopt/whatever from my job...

1.) Whippet, because they're relatively quiet, short coated, athletic enough to keep up with me but an ideal energy level for me as a young adult working fulltime. I may do coursing and agility with a Whippet but honestly I think the dog would mostly be my companion.
2.) Doberman Pinscher, when I have a more stable lifestyle that'll better accommodate a larger dog. Doberman would be for obedience trials and companionship. I love the look of a well-built, well-bred Doberman more than almost any other breed, but I don't know how much I'd want to step into the conformation ring in that breed.
3.) More herdy breeds for agility, stock work, disc, fun stuff. I'm partial to border collies and german shepherds, but I truly like most herding breeds and could live with them, even the wild bitey ones if I had the right home setup for them.

I can barely afford one easy-care dog right now, though, so no dogs for me for a while.

1. Aussie: An Aussie is probably my ideal breed based on the 12 or so I've met. I've spent quite a bit of time with 5 different girls/guys and I've loved them all. Next dog will probably be an aussie pup.

2. Whippet: I've only met about 4 whippets but I've loved them all. They were energetic, spastic and super intelligent problem solvers.

3. GSD: I've always liked GSDs but if I get one someday it will be when I'm a better trainer and from a good breeder. I've seen to many trainwrecks in rescues that were poorly bred.

1) ACD. These dogs are just the best thing since sliced bread. They are hard, but still handler oriented and kinda-sorta-sometimes biddable. Not overly friendly with strangers, but pick the right lines and you don't have to worry too much about HA. Loyal to a fault. Drivey and bitey and dig anything that involves working. Snuggles. Oh, great snuggles. Confident and go-anywhere. Yeah, they're my jam.

2) CBR. These guys are basically the same damned thing as an ACD except they come in retrieving form. Plus, a little more intimidating to look at, which can be a bonus when you have drug dealers on your street.

These two breeds are 95% likely to stay in our home forever. DH and I considered Tollers for a hot minute, but ended up deciding they weren't quite hard enough. We really want to get down to just two main personal dogs, so this is likely what our house will look like once most of our current crew is gone. Undecided if we will have a "companion" dog.

3) Boxer. These dogs are just hilarious and have so much heart. The attitude kills me. I've honest to goodness never experienced so much sass and expression come from such a creature. Plus, they are gorgeous dogs. I think Harlow would have turned out really, really cool if I'd built up her drive and made her a bit more handler oriented.

If for some reason ACDs fell off the world or I couldn't find the right one and NEEDED another herder, I'd go either ES or Aussie.

Man we are so cool! :p

1. Kelpie
Hopefully next dog.
I want another herder. Smart, biddable, driven. Ideally something a bit fiesty, I don't want a softy.
A social, fun, sporty "pet" dog

2. Malinois or Dutchie
Nose and teeth! Nose and Teeth!
Hopefully 2-3 years from now.

3. Borzoi
Because I want to drape one across my couch and let it be beautiful.
As soon as I have room for a dog that doesn't have to do anything.

We have a borzoi boarding at work, and every time I see him, I just have fantasies of dressing up and walking him downtown so everyone would think I was the most elegant person ever.

1. I'm getting my IPO shepherd in January (due Thanksgiving) so that covers 1.

2. Hubby wants a Mal and I am ALL for it. Probably will come home in about 2-3 years. He loves SAR, and working dogs and used to watch them train when he was in Firefighter school.

3. APBT- they have been apart of my life since birth and I miss having one in the house.

I love my bulldogs. I will probably always have one. So, for me...

1. APBT/AST
2. I really want a whippet. Maybe next dog. I love coursing, I love their size, how sweet and cuddly they are, etc. I have met some very well-balanced, obedient whippets and been very impressed.
3. I've recently become interested in Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Don't know much about the breed and haven't met any, but they seem about the level of guardian that I would be comfortable with. I definitely want to research them more.

Realistically I want another APBT in the next year or so, and then maybe whippet after that.

AHH I haven't seen you in so long! What is going on?! lol

1. GSP - They're so goofy and athletic, I always want one around the house.
2. Brittany Spaniel - Because they're cute. Also I've liked every one I've met.
3. Someday I want a GSD or a Mal once I've gotten myself some more experience with breeds like them. I'd ideally like to get into IPO.

Dude! I totally want to watch you do IPO! I doubt I can do anything with it for awhile, but it'd be awesome to get a feel for everything.

I've been doing stuff and things. I'm back at home for awhile though so I'll be able to get back into dog things!
