Hi,

I have two female Doberman mix puppies, 14 weeks old. I asked the vet for a flea-tick preventitive shot for our upcoming camping trip and he proceeded to give the puppies two shots. I asked why and he said, à didn´t realize that the first shot was for livestock, so the second shot I gave is for dogs and cats. What??? Their little systems are overloaded now with this stuff! Can that be dangerous? I don´t know what brand the shot was.....

I'd be calling to ask what was injected into your dogs. There was injectable heartworm meds for a while, till it was pulled from the market. I didn't think there was any injectable flea and tick control for dogs.

Yikes! Thanks! I'm going to a different vet tomorrow with the card that the other one gave me. I hope he's better than the other guy! Thanks a lot for your response. :)

This doesn't sound good. Too many products get used market tested outside the U.S. in places where they don't have to go through as many regulations and face lawsuits. Just because we haven't heard about injectables doesn't mean they aren't being used in other countries to be tested before they're run through the FDA here.
