Tinker's doing just so incredibly well that I had to post an update. What a little trooper. She had to have a total of 8 teeth removed, 4 of which were canines:( . Here teeth were in great shape but due to the size of her mouth compared to the size of her teeth, problems with her jaw had occured and were getting progressively worse. Bone material was used to strengthen her jaw and she now only has a few molars top and bottom on either side to chew with.
She ate a good (mushey) breakfast, is acting like her old silly, exuberant self again and I couldn't be more thrilled. What a brave, resilient dear little creature she is.
Oh, and her tongue is back in the tiny mouth. I guess the Vets. were wrong about it sticking out the rest of her life.....I'm skipping around like a nut case...weeeeeee..:p

Great news !!! She's sooo tiny !!!
This is what is so amazing to me...her size does not match her tenacity. She just always seems to bounce right back.:)

I know...I don't understand why anyone would try to breed a dog this small on purpose. Although I love her dearly, she's the product of selfish breeding, trying to make them smaller and smaller...grrrrrr. She is amazing healthy for her size but this surgery was directly related to what happens when people do this on purpose. Little mouth...huge teeth...painful dog.:(

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. Today Tinker is eating like a piglet again although it's total mush, and you would never know she ever had surgery. Canines are somwhat lucky to be void of the kind of self pitty and other human stuff we bring to events such a surgery. I think that she just feels so much better too because when the extractions were done, the Vet discovered that her canines had gone up into her nasal cavity. The Vet office keeps phoning to ask how she's doing and they're all so surprised. It had to have been painful, but she never skipped a beat. She's such a funny little creature, I feel blessed to know her.
Above her picture on my truck her caption reads Braveheart, it suits her even more now.
