I mean since our population of illegal aliens from Mexico is increasing by somewhere around 22,000 PER YEAR I would really hope that stopping ONE Canadian on a DAY trip would have another side to the story

I have to say, as pleasant as my experiences have always been south of the border.... The border guards are HORRIBLE some of the time.... I rarley had any trouble when showing but we have had a few VERY bad experiences (To be fair with BOTH sides of the border, Canadian guards can be as silly) I think that some border guards just feel the need to feel important even if it is just in their own mind and they take rules and apply them to the extreme... sigh....

Yeah I remember one time Brian was coming into Canada and this huffy border guard practically gave him a cavity search lol. well not quite but he wanted all this ID and PROOF that Brian was a US citizen (apparently his military ID, his Drivers license and his SSN were not enough) and then sent him inside to pay duty on.... ONE CD. YES one compact disk. When Brian got inside the guard behind the counter just rolled his eyes and turned to the guy beside him and said "This is getting ridiculous. he's been sending people in all day long" then turned to Brian and said "There was no need to send you in here... you can go".

then we have also had the Canadian border guard who asked only ONE question......

I swear on my life. he didn't ask us our citizenship, where we were going, NOTHING. He just wanted to give teddy a treat lol and then he let us go.

We have had some REALLY stressful crossings coming into the US too. You either get people who don't care or you get people who are infalted with their own sense of power.

Sad.... I have a friend who also trialed with Jrts, and on his way home, the particularly grumpy Canadian border guard asked if he bought anything, He didn’t... He then made him take each dog out, inspected them all, checked their certificates and health records, searched his whole van... Upon finding his ribbons, he asked if he won any cash... which of course he did not.... He then proceeded to place a value on his ribbons (and the neat plaque he won!!) and made him pay duty on the "value" of them.....

I also have had the ones who don’t ask much…. I was heading to Medina NY to pick up a dog just after 9/11… about 2 weeks later, and when I crossed into NY the guard asked only where I was from and did not ID me, or ask my business in NY, I mean I know I don’t exactly look like a terrorist.. but sheesh!!! I do find the Canadian guards bad for not asking for ay kind of ID though…

Bitch all you want. But the border guard had a point. Of course, she communicated it in a poor way, but she was right, none the less. Our "righteous" canadian blogger can whine all she wants. But, if she did not contact the US consulate to obtain a proper visa and she wanted to work in the US, no matter how 'trivial' she thought it was, tough nuts honey.

Ever try to be a US citizen and move to Canada? I have. I got THREE job offers. EACH time the Canadian Government denied the request to allow me a work visa. Why? Because their were Canadians in teh job pool who had the same skill set as me, on paper.

So you know what whiney Canadian lady. Get bent. Follow the proper process and take your 'superior' attitude and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Really it is silly. At while perhaps it is 'technically' right it is still a stupid thing to do.

Uhm, yeah, it did. It's very trivial, which is why I was unhappy. Why not let her pass? There are many other things that people can use their power for/against that are much worse than someone coming over the border to take photographs of a dog. And as for the political comment... ahh, nevermind... not worth it.. not worth it.. walking away.
