I swear every single time I get something "fixed" or manageable with these two dogs something else comes up!

Poor Buzzer has hotspot-like things on his chest/neck area and inside his left rear leg. They were oozy and gooey and painful and itchy and nasty yesterday. This morning they're looking better after being shaved, sprayed with someRichard's Organics Incredible Skin Spray, and being dosed with Benadryl. Poor guy is still recovering from his last bout of a nasty allergy flare.

Bailey's got a mass in the muscle in her right elbow. It's bothering her. All regular vets refuse to work on it because of the involvement of other important things, like nerves and blood vessels and stuff. So I scheduled an appointment with a surgeon specialist ($$$$) that I have to take a day off work to make it to... and she comes up lame on her left rear leg. So we're going to visit Dr. Julia on Monday, her surgery is scheduled for Friday. Oh, and the next Saturday we have to do a two part blood draw on Buzz to test his thyroid panel because he was soooo hypothyroid it's recommended we get a T4 at the trough (12 hours post pill) and then draw for a panel 5 hours after he gets his am med.

I swear, some days I wish I could just not care.

I love them, I really, really, really do. I'm just frustrated. And I want candy for lunch! :D

It's sometimes hard caring for senior dogs. The last couple of years with my cocker spaniel Patton were like this too. It is hard and frustrating, but you just love them and make it through :)

You should have candy for lunch ;)

I ate two candy bars that were being sold at work... I giggled a little while I ate them.

Que sera sera, right? After talking to our vet today, Buzz can have even more Benadryl than I've been giving him so that should help this stupid thing heal up for him. And then we have to look into having him on some kind of long-term med. We discussed Claritin or Cyclosporine. (Claritin is cheaper!)

And Bailey's getting an NSAID daily for now. Because comfort is more important.

I'm so, so sorry. You have my sincere empathy and I'm hoping for the best for both Buzz and Bailey.

When we heard from Dr. Dodds that B appears to be hypothyroid (we still have to recheck after he's been on meds for a while), I basically fell apart for an entire (work) day. Not because of that itself, but because it really does seem like issue after issue, and it breaks my heart.

Buzz's got a staph infection secondary to some kind of allergic reaction.

Bailey's doing quite well on daily NSAIDs and hasn't been visibly lame on her left rear in days. She still throws it out funny when she sits but... life isn't so bad right now I guess.

Buzz is allergic to this: http://www.petkelp.com/joint_bone.html

He is officially allergic to every d@mn thing on the planet.

He continued to have an allergic reaction despite benadryl, an antibiotic, and removing the Canine Caviar Wilderness (venison) from his diet.

24 hours after stopping the Pet Kelp, his body looked 50% better. Today, 48 hours after, all the sores are completely healed. He was on antibiotics for 4 days before I stopped the Pet Kelp, thinking that can't be it. But apparently it was.

It's official. I am feeding him nothing new ever again. Poor guy!

Ya know, if you just stop feeding him altogether he can't be allergic to anything. Plus, it's cheaper.

Awww...I'm so sorry for your fellas and you too. It's incredibly hard to see them having such a time. It looks like you might have found the main culprit....glad Buzz is doing better. Lots of vibes for improvement for both of them.
