Today I took Kai for our usual walk down the nature trail. Nothing out of the ordinary until we got back to our house and realized that my phone was no longer in my pocket. I knew I had it with me at the beginning of the walk.... So it was out there... Somewhere along the 2 mile path we just walked. :yikes:

So, totally freaking out, I start running back from whence I came. In jeans and flip flops with no sports bra. Running running running and scanning the ground. I was pretty sure that I knew where I had dropped it. I've been proofing Kai's recall using the Premack principle. When he sees a rabbit, I call him first and if he comes, I then release him to chase the rabbit. Only thing is that I don't want to let him go all the way, so I pick up the 20' line he drags and run with him. I think my phone fell out then. I ran back out to that area, but didn't see it. Just to be safe, I ran all the way out to where we turned back. Didn't find it. So I turned around and ran all the way back. All the while thinking "Why this phone?" This is the first phone I have ever had that is at all expensive. All my other phones have been cheap, and I have never lost one of them. Go figure!

By the time I get back to the house I'm sweating and panting. I jog a few times a week, but this wasn't jogging. I had been running like a strung out crackhead the whole way. I went for the phone to call by boyfriend to tell him the bad news. That's when I realized I had a message! Thank god it was a woman who had found my phone! I called her back and thanked her like a million jillion times for finding me. When I went to pick it up, I offered her $50 but she wouldn't take it. She said that she was just glad to help. So, as I said. There ARE still nice people in this world! :) What a relief.

How nice!!! Wow, thanks for sharing! It's good to hear someone didn't run up your bill and then sell the phone :p

That's very nice. When I worked at a movie theater, I often returned peoples wallets whereas most people I worked with took them. Thing is, my wallet is extremely important to me and I know I would definitely appreciate it if someone returned it to me (everything in place, of course). A little bit of empathy can make someone do the right thing.

Reminds me of this kid jogging by the street. He was wearing really loose baggy short and his wallet fell out onto the sidewalk. I was driving by and saw it fall out so I pulled over, grabbed his wallet, and yelled for him and ran over to him. He never even realized his wallet had fallen out until I gave it back lol.

Now, for that lady to call you and tell you, well that's amazing!! I'm really glad she found your phone and not someone else!!

That's awesome :D

When I was a freshman in college, I dropped my wallet which had $300+ in cash (I meant to deposit it in my bank account that day). Anyway, I ended up getting a phone call a couple of weeks later from the person who found it. They returned it with EVERYTHING including the cash intact. I couldn't believe it!

that was so nice.

When I was 10 my brother gave me a really nice wallet, I had it for years, it had HUGE sentimental value.
Then I went through a stage where i lost it 3 times in 2 weeks, once in the vegie isle of the supermarket, beside a pay phone and I left it on the bonnet of the car and it fell in the middle of the highway, each time I got it back and each time it had $50+ in it that no one ever took.
I brought a new wallet and keep the old one in storage now.

thats great that she found you!
I have a habit of finding people's purses in the shopping carts at stores, ya know when you take the cart out to your car and then put it in the corral... yeah seems like once a month when I return my cart to the corral, the cart in front of mine has a purse in it. I always take the purse directly into customer service of the store and let them figure it out.
My mom seems to think it's a sign that one day I am going to forget my purse in the shopping cart.

I found three phones one day when I was out walking with Spanky. Found all the owners of them too. People were so thankful. I was just happy I could help. I would be upset if my cell went missing too.

A number of years ago I was @ Giant's Stadium watching the Browns lose to the Giants. My wallet fell out of my purse by my seat. I didn't realize that until we got back to our friend's house. I was tweaking BIG time. By the time we got home there was a message on my phone from a guy who worked @ the stadium. He had found my wallet. After thanking him profusely for finding it he said he'd send it to me. I told him to take the money out of it to pay for shipping & keep the rest for him. He didn't do that. What a guy. He had his return address on the package so I sent him flowers as a thanks.
There ARE good people out there & it's hard to remember that sometimes when all you hear is death & destruction on the news.

I work at an information desk on a college campus, and once somebody turned in this wallet to our lost & found with a bunch of money and credit cards in it. We were surprised it had even been turned in. We took it upstairs to the police's office because they are allowed to call people, we aren't (liability stuff I guess).
