LOL Yes, but he immigrated to this country legally, he wasnt a refugee, LOL. He went through the process and became a citizen, he pays taxes and is NOT in any kind of state aid.

Forgive me, but as long as we have ONE homeless family, or veteran in America, then we need to take care of our own before we help anyone else.

I also find it funny that most of the "refugees" are men, not women and kids, and when they get here, they have the gall to complain about their accommodations and the food they are served. Sorry but if someone gives me "free" ( I say it in quotes because I AM paying for it) food and a place to live, I am not going to complain about it.

America's economy is failing, the last thing we need is MORE people putting strain on it.

If you want them so bad, they can go live in your state because we dont want them here, not after what happened in France.
...Don't you live in your mommy and daddy's house? And ditch your dogs there any chance you have to leave?

Talking about people living for free.

LOL, no, I live with my husband in the dallas area, nice try though, but if you are going to insult me, at least make sure you have your facts straight.

When I stayed at my folks, I worked, I helped them with their land, I built a fence for them in my spare time (hubby came down later to help with the harder parts of it). THAT'S the reason why I was staying there, so they could have a safe place to let their dogs out without having to worry about them.

As for "dumping my dogs off", yes, I had a job as an assistant trainer that required me to move and live where dogs werent allowed. I was saving money so I COULD find a job where I could have my dogs ... and now I do.

Like I said, if you are going to try to put me down, make sure you have your facts straight, otherwise, you just look foolish.

And LMAO you dont even LIVE in America, so what business is it of yours anyway who we do and don't allow?

Because yeah, you absolutely can't have opinions on other countries actions when you don't actually live there.

Here's the thing. DD I actually hate that I feel like every time someone disagrees with you, it gets personal real fast. It's none of my business, I haven't bee on Chaz long enough to know anything about other people's problems with you, but I literally know NOTHING about you that hasn't been opinions you posted.

So I'm not going to make this personal- but ****. It is people with your opinions that make me sad to be American. Syria is suffering terrorist attacks JUST LIKE FRANCE and you're so gung ho to get aid over there, then suddenly "we have to take care of American first." Call it what it is- you assume these refugees could be terrorists because they're from the Middle East.

Also, I've seen multiple reports of refugees "complaining" about living conditions. I've heard them say they don't get enough food (they probably don't) and that they feel bored because there's nothing constructive that they can do. They want to take language courses, they want to work, they want to do SOMETHING, and I think that's great.

It's this ****ed up American elitism that is my least favorite part of traveling abroad. People find out I'm American and they make assumptions because people who have your opinions are the ones screaming the loudest and they assume we're all like that. You know what? I work in an inner city school. Statistically, if I'm going to be killed on the job it's going to be in an act of violence by a white man. You don't see me trying to kick the teacher next to me out of the classroom because he's a white man.

Oh, are you Parisian? No? Then what makes you think you have an opinion about what goes on there?

Are you a refugee? No? Then what makes you think you have an opinion about refugees?

It also makes me laugh really hard that you say this. You once tried to give an opinion on what it's like to be a person of colour, and to face the racism and discrimination they face daily. Despite the fact that you are white as ****. (That doesn't work, though. White as old dog ****?) So clearly, YOU YOURSELF think people (or, at least, you) can have opinions on things other than what they are.

Your logic has so many holes in it, it barely exists.

I thank you for keeping your disagreement with me civil, and not deducing to personal attacks. I really dont CARE if people attack me personally, I have a tough skin, it says more about them than me, but whatever.

I never scream my political opinions to anyone, but I do support my state legislature in their decision to bar any more refugees.

Do I think we should help our allies (France) YES! because that is what allies are supposed to do.

LOL I do know what it is like to be discriminated against, because I am in an interracial relationship, to a racist, I am no better than "a person of color" and would be a target, more so then someone of color because I am, to them a "traitor".

I ABSOLUTELY have an opinion because these people are COMING TO MY COUNTRY, so yeah so I cant have an opinion about what's happening in my own backyard?

Like I said, if you want them, there are a bunch of them going to canada, too. But I cant blame my state and the others who said no for erring on the side of caution.

Also, just because you disagree with me doesnt give you the right to be a (for give me for using such strong language, but I do not have a better explanation for your attitude) nasty b****.

Then start by taking in some of your allies refuguees. America doesn't always have to help with war.

Any you may have an opinion on who goes to your country. But like I said... there have been 2500 refuguees coming from Syria to the USA since the civil war started in 2011. SIRIOUSLY? THATS NOT ALOT. Get over yourself. No one is threating your peace or your life. Chances are, you aren't even noticing a difference.

Living with a roommate who you don't want to live with is one of the worst outcomes...

Said unpredictable roommate who somehow liked Signal, but somehow HATED Lilah and won't allow me to foster another dog. Her friend even initiated a completely uncalled-for ridiculous argument online with me, telling me that it's "my own fault" for wanting dogs, and creating "problems" between me and my roommate. But I obviously discussed asked her permission before both Signal and Lilah, and she gave me the okay. It's not like I just randomly come home with dogs. I'm 100% sure they crap-talked me behind my back. And for what? Fostering a little dog?

????

I really don't want to live in this apartment or in this city. I just want to go home. But my lease doesn't end until May 2016.

Our mutual friend who was a 3rd roommate was forced to go back to Korea, because she couldn't find a job within the time limit that allows her to stay in the US. So now it's just us two. Our rent is $2500, and I had to offer to pay $1500 and she to pay $1000, or else she is totally willing to find a random shady off craigslist/airbnb as a 3rd roommate, because she doesn't want to pay $1250. Everything about this living situation is the worst. I just want to go home.

I can't break the lease and just leave, because I don't want to abandon her either, as a "friend"... since living here was an agreement. Even though breaking the lease is seriously the best option for me, in many ways. And then she can find any old random shadies off craigslist or wherever to be her 2nd and 3rd roommate.

Well, you have your opinion and I have mine, and mine can't be the only one in town, since the Governors of at least 5 states seem to agree.

Being angry and resentful til your lease is up isn't going to help your friendship either. Talk to her about it, tell her you want to go home and see what she says.

I'm actually very not angry and resentful towards her in real life. We're living peacefully, except for her friend initiating an argument online. I just post on this "venting thread"...

And yes, I've talked with her about it, and we've discussed many options. For her, of course she wants me to stay. There's much I did not post here, or it would be an essay. It was just a quick post... :\

Do your homework.

http://data.unhcr.org/syrianrefugees/regional.php

Only 22.1% of the refugees are men 18-59 and some of those are even over the age to be in the military. (Not a lot of 50+ active war-fighting soldiers out there)

Be educated, do not perpetuate hateful ignorance. Know what you're talking about or be outed as a fool.

"We need to take care of our own first" - don't act like you give a **** about the poor and destitute in this country. You complain about welfare and taxes all the time. You don't get to use America's homeless and desperate as a talking point to deny other humans help while complaining about helping the homeless and desperate the rest of the time. That's completely vile.

:hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail:

I LOVE when people spout on and on about "taking care of America first" and then spend all of their time bitching about people on social assistance. /sarcasm.

I see it a lot working in an inner city school. What a lot of individuals forget is that these refugees (and the poor and destitute of our own country) aren't some statistic or some abstract concept. They're real ****ing people who are doing whatever they can to survive.

P.S. I literally don't ever want to hear anyone ever say that being in an interracial relationship allows you to understand what it's like to be a person of color. Yes, people my have a nasty attitude toward you at times but the completely RAMPANT and INSTITUTIONALIZED racism in our country is not something you can experience as a white person. You might SEE it, but it's not yours.

That sucks. I understand actually loving a friend but not enjoying where you live/living with them. I lived with my 3 best friends for awhile and we decided it would be a great idea to save money and get a 2 bedroom while we were in college. Sharing a bedroom with your best friend can actually be awful no matter how much you love them, lol. I'm glad you talk about it and I think the occasional vent is important for your sanity.

I will say with my friendships, where I knew our status as roommates had a deadline but I wanted our friendship to continue, I just made an effort to remind that them "hey, even if we have disagreements on living arrangements, I'm glad we're friends."

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so rude to you. I was posting quickly and did not get the right tone across.

You're in a really crappy situation. You're being a much better friend than I would be! I hope you can work things out so that you can both be happy.

You know there are already tens of thousands of Syrian refugees living peacefully in the US, right?

You're doing exactly what terrorists want. Reacting out of fear and hate with more fear and hate. Congratulations, you're part of the problem.

Next time there's a mass shooting are you going to support gun bans? Or argue that you shouldn't judge an entire group of people based on the action of a few?

Yea, I thought so.
