Beanie it's not a vacation. I would imagine they would understand, bereavement time should start right away. I am so sorry for your loss :(

Melle sometimes it takes seeing several drs for the right fit. From what you are posting this is not the right fit. Or you may not be telling them everything- I see that a lot. It can be hard to open up. Right people it will all come out. But if you have the bad thoughts or are suicidal or paranoid that needs to be across to them. For now since you were a pt try getting back into that dr and telling them his you are doing now. Here it can be a six- eight month wait for new pts which is awful!!!

I'm supposed to get a day for immediate family, but I'm not sure if I can use it yet? My vacation time I can't use until I've been there six months, but my health benefits have started - so I MIGHT be able to use the funeral leave time? I'm not sure if they classify it as a benefit like that or not. My sister works in HR and she thinks so. He is my uncle, it's not like it's a friend. It's my uncle...
I'll just have to check in the morning. I'm not sure I can make the funeral but if I can take the afternoon off, my cousin is flying in tonight and they are going to have lunch and stuff afterward, so I can at least make that if I get the afternoon. Or at least take my lunch hour over there. =/

I made pretty much the same post six months ago, but...whenever I know someone who dies, it seems like they're followed by a bunch of other sudden, unexpected deaths.

A few weeks ago, a neighborhood kid was drinking at a house party and fell down the stairs and died.

Then, the photographer Wyatt Neumann, who's work I followed closely and found extremely inspirational, died suddenly of a brain aneurysm causing a motorcycle crash.

I don't know if this made national news, but four local women were killed in a limo crash here a few days ago. I (and a lot of other friends) originally actually thought it was people we knew well, spent six hours trying to find them and their families, and finally found out it wasn't, but they were actually with the party that died about thirty minutes before it happened, and left the same place on the same road). Anyway, the women graduated HS close by here and many friends knew them.

Last night another local kid, my mom's coworker's son, friend's sister's boyfriend, crashed his car and died (possibly intentionally) after a fight with his GF.

Today I found out another volunteer at the dog rescue I work for committed suicide a few days ago.

I wish people wouldn't die so much, so young, at least not all at the same time.

I know I don't really post at all anymore, but I just have to vent and maybe get some advice.

My boyfriend (who goes to school on the other side of the country) decided that next summer he won't be coming back here because aside from me, being here depresses him... so basically we'll be breaking up at the end of the summer and won't be talking any longer even though we still love and care about each other. He's my first real relationship and it's been over a year and a half now... a year and eight months. So I'm just looking for advice on how to deal with a break up because I don't know how and I feel like I'm just going to go in a downwards spiral once it really happens... because I'm already really upset about it.

So sorry you're going through this. :( I think it's only going to be more upsetting the more you hang out with him this summer. I'd recommend a clean break NOW instead of prolonging the inevitable. Find comfort and support in the people around you. I know it sounds easier than it is.

I'm sure you've thought of this....but is long distance not an option? If you guys have completely different goals about where you'll be in the long term then a long distance relationship obviously wouldn't make a lot of sense. But if it is just a short term distance issue....long distance may work?

Not being able to share your daily life and activities with your SO *sucks*. But it is also doable if the long term goals are the same.

Thank you guys for the responses, they really did help a lot!

We did long distance last school year and it wasn't horrible... but I think his issue is just that he doesn't want to come back home next summer. Which means we wouldn't have the four months during the summer together... so that's where he's struggling because he doesn't know how that will work out.

We're having a more in depth talk about it tomorrow because I think we might try to find a different solution because neither of us want to end it since there are a lot of feelings there and we both just "get" each other. Like everyone who knows both of us always says how we're male/female versions of each other, and some of them said they noticed that well before we even began talking to each other... how much alike we are.

Sitting in the bathroom at work crying because we just put down two momma dogs and their 2 week old puppies, and I was the one who had to bring all the puppies to th euthanasia room. Only two more weeks of this job and I'm done. I don't think I've been happy since I started this job in June.

Stop letting your ****ing intact dogs roam and fill the streets with litter after litter of unwanted puppies. The vast majority of dogs we get in are very young puppies who people either found dumped outside their home, or people bring them in because they didn't think their intact female who they never keep contained would ever get pregnant.

So done.

The heck.

Paid my taxes due back in April. Got a notice in the mail today saying I owe almost $500. Um. How is the possible when a.) my taxes said my amount owed was $375 and b.) I PAID THAT IN APRIL AND THEY TOOK MY MONEY WITHOUT COMPLAINT. There is no way my state taxes are that high. None. I don't make enough for that.

Now I'm on hold with the state department. This is just fantastic.

ETA: Easiest tax issue ever. Apparently my payment did go through, they just applied it to the wrong period. They transferred it over, problem solved, no outstanding balance. Hoory!

Did you give them any of your info because there are all kinds of tax scams going on apparently. Be careful.

It was legit. State revenue office. Certified mail. The works. But hooray, taken care of, no money out of my pocket. And no, no info was given besides my tax id number.

In depression
Someone brought in a stray cat today that's been hanging around their house, mentioned they really liked her and with she could keep her but her mom said they had too many cats. And then goes to visit with the cats, and ends up adopting one.

Seriously

I feel like there is to much death around recently.

My vet had canceled our farm call the other day because his son was very sick so I assumed it was very bad and sure enough his son passed away. And he is such a great guy. Not that it ever stops bad things from happening to good people.

Kid ran a stop sign on my street sat night and killed a biker. It was bad. I feel bad for both because it is hard to see with the hills out here and kid is swearing to people he stopped. Even if he didn't he is 17. Jesus. Such a mess.

Young autistic boy wandered away from family and drowned. It was great to see so many people out searching but right next to the lake it just didn't seem like it was going to end well from the start :(

And this am a girl supposedly swerved to avoid hitting an animal and her airbag went off? And she went through a house hitting and killing a mom and trapping an infant under the car. They life flighted the infant but ugh.

No real update on my old coworkers son Who needs the heart transplant I am not sure I ever mentioned on here. He went into multiple organ failure and they sent him to a specialty hospital in Pittsburgh which scared me because I thought our transplant unit at the cleveland clinic was top of the line.

I just want to put everyone in a bubble. We had my brothers welcome home party from the army and now he is ready to run off to Florida. I'm like you just got through the army without dying, could you just hang out here a while!!!

One of my coworkers dedcided to go back to school, and thus can not work her usual shifts. So, instead of trying a few things, the boss just switched her schedule with mine, without asking me first! I will now work an extra day, but with fewer hours, and basically have the worst schedule in the place.

Appeals went nowhere, so now I basically have to suck it up until I can find another job.

It sucks, because I love my job and I had the exact schedule I wanted. I also have seniority and I'm a better employee. This has always been such a fair place to work, I was just blindsided.

I just hope I can find something before I get too far in the financial hole.
