Ooh I trained someone like that!

I called him Anti-Me in my head and pretended he was built in a factory to be my evil doppelganger. It was pretty fun when I made it into a game hah.

He did that exact thing you're talking about and it made me crazy, and he would also say, "Yes!" very definitely when I asked if he was confident on a task... and he'd be doing it wrong. That was not great lol.

I had a co-worker who multiple times cried...CRIED, and threw a fit when I asked her to do something or gave direction (I was assistant manager). Now, normally I would have to look at what I did to cause this, but all the other employees agreed I was doing nothing wrong or mean or whatever. She just decided she hated me and then took everything I said or asked as bullying....sigh....

To help me chill, please tell me your stories of annoying coworkers. TIA!
I'm trying not to say anything because I'm trying to be nice and not completely lose my **** over everything happening at my job since nobody else in the whole entire world will hire me.
But.

this morning, on top of everything else she doesn't know, or at least, isn't retaining, no matter how many times we tell her.

She couldn't figure out how to use the key to unlock the door.

I love your stories. Keep them coming.

I'm a pretty easy person to get along with. I'm quiet, polite, not quick to anger, etc. I don't normally take issue with people, but...

... HOLY CRAP MY NEW COWORKER IS DRIVING ME INSANE.

I'm in charge of training her. She has no office experience. She isn't a big fan of work. She has next to no confidence in herself. And she has the world's most annoying habit of asking a question and as I start to answer her she tries to finish my sentence for me. Only... she doesn't know the answer to her question so she's finishing my sentences incorrectly.

At first I tried talking over her (not easy for someone quiet like me) so as not to interrupt my flow. Now I just shut up the moment she interrupts and won't start again until she's finished (incorrectly).

I really didn't think I'd ever be the type to have anything less than a professional and friendly relationship with a coworker. Whelp.

To help me chill, please tell me your stories of annoying coworkers. TIA!
I just was reminded of another thing that drives me crazy about her (because it just happened)... she wears perfume, and reapplies throughout the day. In this day and age, it's a pretty big faux-pas in an office. It's overwhelming.

During my 4 month leave this summer our department hired the co-op student that worked with us from September-May for free, with limitations of course.

I figured since he had all that time to figure things out that he would be proficient in his job. Wrong.

This Monday night for example, we were extremely short-staffed to the point of just him and me over 2 departments. Every 10 minutes he was over in my section asking yet another inane question that he should have known the answer to a YEAR ago.
He repeatedly walked away from customers in the midst of their order, and eventually approached me telling me that I had to serve because the customers were "annoying him"
Oh, and I'm convinced that he substitutes showering for baths in cheap cologne.

.....But tomorrow night is his last shift, so I guess I can't complain much ;)

Argh... So frustrated! Preschool has started and while it is still early, we are struggling with a child or two. One child te other day she said she had to go potty and then she proceeded to stand in front of the toilet and pee everywhere. Ok fine... But mom didn't send extra clothes. Fine... We have extras. Cleaned her up and dressed her.

Upon pick up time mom asked what happened. I told her what happened and really not that big a deal but then mom says "well... She doesn't understand english so maybe she didn't know". First of all, she asked to go pee but accidents happen but... REALLY? Why wouldn't you teach her English? It just seems totally unfair that you would not speak any english at home and then send your child to an english speaking preschool totally clueless in how to understand us!!!! WHY
Would you do that? YOU (parent) speak english perfectly well when you are speakig to the us, the teachers, so WHY would you not teach your child to speak english only to throw her in to an environment where it is imperative that she understand us!!!!

My fiancee and I see this a lot and it annoys the crap out of us, too. Fiancee came to this country as a teenager (lived with his aunt and uncle) and the first thing he did was learn English. It makes him crazy when people come here and not only don't bother to teach their kids English, but even worse, don't bother to learn it themselves.

Well I think in cases of raising young children bilingually, it's common to speak only the non-dominant language at home. The idea being that they'll pick up the dominant language naturally outside of the home. If she's preschool age, it's probably still new.

Yup, this. When we moved to the US I had just turned 5 - and while my parents put me in a childrens English course I couldn't grasp the concept of a different language. We spoke German at home even though I knew hardly any English at first. For my parents it was important that I know my first language fluently as well. Children at that age pick up a new language at lightening speed- I was fluent within 6 months - 3 of those were summer vacation between k and 1st grade. By the time I hit 1st grade I had no problems.

I wish it were intended to be funny.
It happened again this morning.

I'm pretty sure I work with two dwarfs who must have gone missing from the original team, and they've landed here instead. Cranky and Lazy. The negativity is soul-sucking and the laziness (or stupidity, I'm still not sure which, probably some of both) is driving me to overworked insanity.

I just want to close on the house already. All this paperwork and waiting on this or that and maybe not moving the day I wanted to and maybe not having a moving truck...

I am stressing MAJOR.

Then top it off I had a project for work that turned into a fiasco but it's solved now. But I spent all morning running around in a panic because deadlines and everyone else is out of the office and....

I need to not stress.

I will close and move and it will work out. Maybe not on the 18th. But it will work out.

I just want to be able to relax in my new house! And no more bank stuff.

I will say my coworkers drew me a picture of a beach and palm trees and it says 'Don't Stress'.

That's probably bad but it does help when I'm getting overwhelmed.

I know its common but its setting their kids up to be behind once they reach school age ... also, a child (mom says) should be potty trained by the time it goes to preschool ... in fact, when I went to preschool, kids weren't allowed to enroll if they weren't.

Depends on the age they are in preschool....some preschools start taking children very early. This child likely is potty trained but accidents still most certainly happen, even up til grade school. I would not expect young preschoolers to be potty trained.

If the child asked to go potty, obviously she understands basic English so likely the mom was just embarrassed and didnt really know what to say.

Friends who have adopted children who do not speak any English have not really had issues....the kids pick it up fast BUT yes, the teachers should be told so that they know they may need to work a bit more with them or help them more. It is also most certainly not setting them up to be behind. Actually they will be ahead as they already are bilingual and speak two languages.

As far as learning English in general, eh, it doesnt bother me one way or the other. We are a nation of immigrants, I dont care what language someone speaks.

I've known many many preschool age children not be potty trained! What are do they go there?! I've had plenty still having accidents for lots of reasons. Years ago I worked in a preschool and vividly remember changing a 4 year old who needed a nappy. It's not so black and white, kids have needs sometimes that you may not know about.

No, I don't think it is. Children pick up new languages faster than any adult can imagine.
I was never in any way behind - esp. In preschool, where you mostly play. None of my other ASL counter parts were in any way behind and none of use spoke English at home. ;)

They won't be behind by the time they're in actual school. They pick it up really quickly by being out and about in daily life

As far as potty training goes, even potty trained preschoolers can have an accident now and then.
