haha, this thread is great.

I don't know where on earth my mom got them, but we have a box of probably 5000 mini (like 8"x5"??) white plastic bags. They are PERFECTO. They have handles, but they tie up very easily.

We used to use plastic grocery bags, but I think my mom got sick of dealing with the ones with holes, lol.

And yeah, we kinda have the whole soft poop in grass issue too. I haven't figured out how to resolve it. I just usually end up hoping it is gonna rain soon...lol!!

the other week I bought some poop bags... they are cute! they are pink and citrus scented! they came with a little dispenser bag to hook onto the handle of the leash! the dispenser is black with pink paw prints all over it!

Havent had a chance to try them yet though.
I just bought the same ones yesterday! I always forget to stuff grocery bags in my pants, so I figured I'll try them. They smell really good. I just felt a little odd when I walked our foster puppy Casanova this morning as one of my neighbors caught me sniffing the poop bag- it was empty though.

Ya know, this poop bag thing does bring about some esoteric questions. It's one of those appearance vs. function, ergonomic kinda things.

Take our local dog park for instance. I mean, here's a location where dogs are invited, nay, expected. You know the deal, hundreds of dogs each week. I know the place is supported by donations and as such, probably purchases supplies in bulk for the best deal they can manage. But, clear poop bags?!

It's bad enough to carry a full bag to the nearest receptacle. There are issues with warmth, consistency, odor and well, just the whole gestalt of cleaning up after your beloved pet(s). But, a clear bag?! Now you gotta look at it. And, of course, so does anybody else who is close!

Who was uncaring enough to design clear poop bags??

Ha ha ha well actually I use food bags. They come on a huge roll that lasts for ever. They are kind of clearish though LMAO. We don't have freebie bags where I live although there are quite a lot of doggy poop bins provided so not much carrying involved. In the summer when I dont wear my dog walking coat with the big pockets I take extra bags with me so that I can use a bag, glove wise, to pick up the poop...tie a knot in the top of it and pop it inside another bag so it is not so obvious LOL. I am no expert at retreiving soft poop from long grass. Just pick it up the best I can, grass and all if necessary!

We reuse grocery bags. They are thin and the warmth of fresh poop is refreshing on a cold day. :)
ROFLMFAO!!!!

Here's something that really bugs me.

We're picking up something that is completely natural, biodegradeable, good for the soil, and we're WRAPPING IT IN PLASTIC AND PUTTING IT IN PLASTIC LINED BINS TO BE COLLECTED AND TAKEN TO A LANDFILL . . . .

Huh?

I can see the issue of not just leaving doglogs in heavily trafficked areas, like dog parks, apartment complexes, etc., and trying not to leave stuff in your neighbor's yard, but come on. And wouldn't it be a whole lot more cost effective and environmentally sound for high traffic areas like dog parks and apartment complexes to put in a few of those in ground receptacles that allow the stuff to break down and leech back into the soil where it belongs rather than fooling with plastic baggies and plastic garbage bags (which are a by-product of the petroleum industry) and having it carted off to the landfill.

I try to make sure mine, when we're on walks in town, leave any of their gifts of fertilizer on municipal property, like the vacant lot belonging to the Justice Center, the City or County Building . . . places I figure I have a stake in ownership. After that, banks and the First Baptist Church (long story) are fair game ;)

I bet they have a lot of fertilizer to leave too! :yikes:
