I can't wait until we move out of this horrible city. There is no reason illegal fireworks need to happen 2-3 times a week year round. There just isn't.
OMG I didn't know you moved to Pomona!

JUST KIDDING THOSE AREN'T FIREWORKS IN POMONA.

(what an odd place to have a University of Health Sciences.)

So I got like 0 sleep last night, and naturally my body decided to doze off as it was time for me to wake up. But when my alarm went off, there was a Simpsons Christmas episode on amd my brain decided that was worth waking up for. Thank God for that marathon lol.

I was wondering if anyone else was watching! It's been my background noise for a couple days now. Think my husbands gonna loose it if he watches another episode though.

LOL Don't you LOVE IT THERE? Isn't socal the best? :rofl1: So safe and welcoming, right?
I know nothing of Cali, but I do recognize Pomona from that Alphadog movie where they were going to party. Not a nice place, eh? :p
It is interesting for sure. When I was here for my interview I remember seeing campus and antique row and being like "what a cute, quaint little town!" :rofl1:

Right??? I just... don't get it. I've had multiple jobs lately where I'm like, I don't understand how I didn't even get an interview. And this one... why did they interview me again... because they must have already known they didn't want to hire me. I thought it was a good sign that they were calling me back in even though they took a pass last time... nope. Maybe they just needed me to fill their interview quota. *sigh*

If I get that superpower I will definitely use it for good and share it...
I'm getting frustrated with it all.

I am going to view a horse tonight. To buy. Its a 4 year old thoroughbred. I can only just afford it but it should make a really good eventing prospect. I'm terrified but I'm taking one of my good friends who is a professional rider with me. I do have a plan for where I'll keep it if I do buy it but this feels like such a massive responsibility. I've never bought a horse before. This horse is going to solely belong to me and the cost of buying it and keeping it will be solely on me. Its terrifying. I've been looking at a horse to buy for the past year and I've never had the courage to even arrange to go and see one before. There's just something about this horse. I don't even have tack for a horse. I only have a bridle that I took from my boss for riding one of the horses that live out a few miles away. But my boss also has loads of rugs so if I need anything I can borrow it from her.

I got a call last night to gauge my interest in hearing a job proposal when they get the details fully hashed out, which would be happening in the next 30 days. The pay is $20K more a year than what I'm making now and I'm apparently the first choice for this position, but it's a lot of potentially high-stress responsibilities and I'd probably have to go back to working Saturdays. I've gotten to really like having full weekends.

I have another potential job offer coming my way in January--the guy who would be hiring me is essentially creating a new team and has been dealing with getting the project and it's budget approved. He's really keen to bring me on and thinks I'd be a great asset to his Big Picture of World Domination, lol. The pay would be roughly around what the above job would be (aka a lot more than what I"m making now) and I'd be working a normal-ish schedule and even possibly from home. There's a bit more uncertainty about me actually getting this job just because it's a longer time-frame and for a BIG company.

Thoughts?

I started blogging again.

http://www.knittingninja.com/

I've had this blog for yeeeeaaaars. But I finally got the urge to blog again awhile back, and fresh-slated it and posted. Just made a new post today. Marshall and I do a lot of stuff, and I feel like telling our stories would be good for me and for my memories of it all.

It'll be about pets, knitting, cooking, homebrewing, and a bunch of other things. :)

Honestly, I wouldn't want to work Saturdays/ weekends anymore. I really like having a traditional 2 day weekend. 20k more a year is a lot, but it is worth the stress? You said "high-stress responsibilities".... I like having that to an extent, but if you can already tell that you will be pulling your hair out at the end of the first month, I don't think it would be worth it.

The second job sounds good.... if all falls into place. How unhappy are you at your current job that it's worth waiting it out? Also, since potential job no. 2 is based on a budget approved project - will you still have a job there when the project is over? Are there chances money will dry out sometime along the way? Those would be my only concerns.

Job No. 2 would be an ongoing thing, it's not a contractor or short-term thing. I'm still not entirely sure what the proper term for it would be; one of my buddies is the one heading that department and has been keeping me in the loop for the most part as he gets everything put together and approved. He'll let me know when he has the Official Wording down.

I think I'm going to try and negotiate for weekends off somehow at Job Offer No. 1...if anything I might be able to hack it for the couple of months before (hopefully) taking Job No. 2. If I did that I could get approved to buy a better place than what I'm currently able to get if I stay where I am. I'm just getting really fed up with just about everything here. I've been here for over two years and the sales staff was my entire social circle. Since I moved to my current position, it's like I died or something. It's kind of painful to come to work and overhear all the stuff that they did the night before or hear plans being made and not getting included. Luckily I've made new friends outside of work who I actually mesh with a lot better but still.

What would ya'll do?

My new job is boring so far. I'm only 4 days in but there is just no workload coming my way. I am used to being moderately to very busy. I'm really frustrated.

I cannot take a pay cut and the pay is good. But I feel worthless at the end of the day because.... there's so much down time. How long would you give it to pick up before starting to look again? I'd love to stay with the same company just... elsewhere where it is busier.

If the pay is good and you otherwise like the company, I'd stick it out for a month and see if it improves any. Maybe tins just a slow period?

I went to Planned Parenthood today to get new birth control. I've been on pills for years.

The NP told me that I shouldn't be on estrogen based BC because I get migraines with aura, and the two together increase the risk of stroke. I had read about that before, but when I brought it up with my OB-GYN, she said I didn't really need to worry about it. My NP said that it was pretty common for the risk to be minimized by doctors because it's still not a HUGE chance of stroke, but it's definitely still higher, and she'd prefer I not be on it.

We talked about IUDs (Mirena specifically) and I'll probably got for it eventually, but today I decided on the Depo shot. I'm pretty pumped about not taking a pill every day (not like I don't take a ton of other pills but still.) Plus it was just generally a really positive experience.

The downside is that now the arm I got the shot on HURTS. Huuuurts. It's been a while since I've gotten any sort of shot. Ugh.

So I set up a little notepad document on my desktop to keep track of my paycheck expenses, mostly for Tobias and I was looking around on Etsy today and...

...I've already found at least two or three collars I want to get him. One is an everyday ocean blue embroidered one with a nametag similar to a boomerang tag. The others are Halloween themed, Thanksgiving themed, and one is just autumn themed. And of course he'll need a winter/X-mas collar.

I really need to watch it though :( I just have a seasonal job at the zoo until the end of October/early November and then I'll have to find a job at a local pet place up the road, hopefully, since there's a few. I'm basically on minimum wage, and I'm already about to spend about 50 bucks on a cat tree/post for him so he stops jumping up and attaching to the window screen on my landing. Plus I'm saving at least half of each check.

Someone needs to tell me to not go 'all the pets' crazy when I move. Right now I want another chin, a cat, a third dog, and a large fish tank.

Methinks maybe 2 of those pets and not all 4. And probably not all at the same time. Dog is a definite so I need to decide- cat, chin, or fish? Leaning towards chin or fish and no cat.
