Vibes for Leo please!

He ate a half bag of chocolate chips :(

I called the vet and she thinks I don't have to bring him in to the emergency because the toxicity isn't too high, but he definitely has some symptoms (a bit hyper, rumbly tummy).

I only found the empty bag now, but he must have eaten it over 6 hours ago, because I have been with him since.

Even though my vet is not worried, I am still worried.
So just vibes please! :(
All the vibes! Silly Leo!

Hugo once ate 2 chocolate nut bar things at a holiday party and I basically had a heart attack. Even after my family, the vet, and the internet confirmed it wasn't enough (esp. because it was milk chocolate) to do any damage I basically tethered him to me in fear for 24 hours. Nothing ever happened, but I totally understand being scared!

After Brisbane ate half a flourless chocolate cake off the counter with no ill effects I stopped being quite so worried about chocolate. Made it a lot less stressful the second time he did it. I don't even worry about him eating dropped M&Ms anymore.

I did make Ru barf up a Hershey kiss though, because he's freakishly tiny.

He's completely fine again, luckily.

But he did throw up several times during the night, so it wasn't a negligent amount of chocolate by any means. And my goodness, he was so hyper in the evening. I took him for a 45 minute run (after he ate the chocolate but before I realized it), and he was bouncing off the walls playing with his toys afterwards. Made me really thankful that he normally has such a great off switch.

Now to train my housemates to stop leaving chocolate on the floor :nono:
Several months ago, Housemate #1 left an entire chocolate cake on the floor next to her bed, and was so shocked that Leo ate the whole thing because "he knows he's not allowed in there". That one didn't even upset his stomach.

Now, Housemate #2 decided that the ideal location for storing her open bag of chocolate chips would be on the very bottom, floor level shelf. He ate about 6 ounces of semisweet chocolate.

For a dog that doesn't counter surf, Leo sure has the opportunity to get into a whole lot of stuff.

Definitely scary, but chocolate chips are pretty low quality chocolate, making them much less of a danger.

Your housemates are pretty clueless though!

Lancer thinks that nose work is the best game in the universe (besides tennis balls). ;_; He's on the step of placing little boxes any random place, on door knobs, window sills, cabinet handles, in door cracks, high and low. Still building foundation using treats. He has very good work ethic and will keep making unrelenting rounds around the room until he's found the hides... that's a working dog for you.

Rara also thinks that nose work is a ton of fun, so she starts off super fast and focused, almost insane- but then gets mentally tired much faster than Lancer. She then eventually likes to straight up sit in front of me and ask me why I'm not looking for it myself. LOL

Index put the ducks to bed in their new pen for the first time tonight. I was a little nervous because he hasn't really been on ducks much lately but it was fine. I think I'm going to affix a door to the duck house that I can teach him to open and close because I'm really tired of going to work with duck poop on my shoes.

Auggie's brother, Georgie's dad, has cancer. They are more than likely letting him go today. My heart literally hurts, like it is very real physical pain. Grandma, dad, and now bro will all be gone. All the dogs who made me choose this breeder in the first place... Gone.
He is only one year older than Auggie.

I can't believe that I ever considered rehoming Glitch. This little guy is my heart, my treasure. Right now he's snuggled up to me, head on my chest, and it's hard to believe that he's mine. He's always on the go, eager to train, stable, smart, and has the greatest sense of humor. Even when he's attempting to throw the cat away, he's perfect in my eyes. Love that boy.

Sorry for the large FB photo. Iggy and Josh had their first hunt yesterday. Reached their bag limit on wood ducks and overall Iggy was "awesome" according to DH. I'm unreasonably proud of this picture.

Fable recalled off of a freaking squirrel today!! So proud of her, especially since this is a dog that would kill anything small and furry if given the chance, and has blown me off before to chase little critters. I guess all that training I do with her actually does help.

I'm legitimately addicted to advancing Lancer's nose work. We had a 3 hour class on Sunday, and then we went home and trained nose work for 3 more hours. And the fact that he has a good nose, doesn't give up, and thinks this is the best game he's ever played besides tennis balls is a great thing.

YELLS

I'm wondering when registering your dog with NACSW, if you dog isn't registered with other clubs, what do you put in for registered name? Do we just make up something interesting? Is there a NACSW naming formality?

And is there a way to look up NACSW registered dog names?

Gah, Lincoln is going to be neutered next tuesday and I am freaking out about it, deep down I know its the right thing to do, but being as he is an MDR1 affected breed, I still worry. I have told the vet I want BW before he goes in, NO ace, and I want a catheter in his arm in case something goes wrong. What worries me most is that I have never LEFT him anywhere like that and I worry he is going to be super freaked out :(

I'm in the same boat. Wilson is getting neutered tomorrow and I;m not only worried that something is going to go wrong but also so so worried that it could potentially reverse all the work I've done with him regarding his anxiety :/ I feel like it's unlikely at this point but still.

Just got back the results of Brisbane's massive allergy test. He's allergic to a bunch of grasses, trees, and weeds. Fleas, which we knew about. Also corn, barley, eggs, and sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes.

He didn't test positive for poultry allergens, but he reliably develops hotspots within half a day of eating chicken, turkey, or duck, so I'm not going to be adding those back to his diet for the moment.

But...sweet potatoes. Because it wasn't hard enough to find grain-free egg-free poultry-free food...
