And speaking of that, yesterday I got to be surrounded by whippets and it was awesome - and funny, because there were a bunch of scent hounds and sighthounds, and you could totally HEAR when you walked in the building which side was which :D The whippets were all just so doe-eyed and polite and stable, all 20+ dogs from different kennels and different lines, that I wanted to take every last pointy dog with me....why don't I have a puppy yet?!

Why I have Whippets. :) Well, Whippet at the moment. Ez has been living with my sister and loves being an only child. Did you go to the Hound Specialty in VA?

Ah man I actually had a pleasant outing with BOTH Juno and Cajun today. They can't really be off leash together because Cajun's a jerk. Somehow on our hike today it managed to work out quite nicely to alternate between who was off leash and who was on a flexi - although Cajun needed the leash clipped to the front of her harness in order to keep her in line. She just focuses on Juno the whole time and I have no idea how to break her of it but at least she couldn't act on it this way.

I could've sworn Cajun had an off switch at some point, but she certainly doesn't anymore and that's kind of annoying. We were gone for a couple hours this morning - played frisbee at the park and then went for our hike - thought I'd get some peace and quiet after. But no. As soon as we got home Cajun ran to their toy basket, grabbed a squeaky tennis ball and proceeded to pace around the house going squeaksqueaksqueaksqueak. Something about her was a little more subdued due to the exercise but it still didn't make her stop moving lol. Darn dog just does not STOP unless she is physically restrained.

Final note, I actually got some successful back vaults out of her at the park today which was nice. We tried this a couple days ago and she just would not do it, even though she's been doing them in the house just fine. Nice to have that come together a bit.

I bought a sheep's head from the meat packing place, but now that I've actually stared into its cold, dead eyes I can't handle feeding it to my dog. Also my only yard is the front yard with the chain link fence, and seeing Briz gnawing on that thing would just become Reason the Neighbors Won't Talk to Me #27.

I'm pretty sure I've just convinced the BF that adding another dog in a few years is not such a horrible idea. I don't know if he thinks it's a good idea, but when I brought it up, he kinda just shrugged and nodded his head.

Facebook friend is complaining that she had to leave the dog park because her poor innocent pit bull "dominated" a nervous dog by pinning it and in the process scratching its face and making it bleed. She considers this to be normal healthy dog behavior and finds the entire thing unfair because the nervous dog should never have been in the park in the first place and obviously the entire purpose of the dog park is to allow dogs to socialize unhindered and engage in natural behaviors.

Bleh.

There is this dog at the dog park that I see sometimes. Always given me a really really weird vibe. Yep today he went off on a random man just standing there. No reason at all.

Good to know my dog sense is good. Also I'm leaving as soon as I see this dog next time. The owner seems clueless.

Well?? What is the news? New addition to the family?

I'm pretty sure I've just convinced the BF that adding another dog in a few years is not such a horrible idea. I don't know if he thinks it's a good idea, but when I brought it up, he kinda just shrugged and nodded his head.

Hello klein poodle puppy of Fall/Winter 2017!!
I think I have officially done this recently as well! I enjoy planning for the future, and I was discussing for the 3rd or 4th time with the bf about how I am hoping/planning on getting a Koolie puppy in about 2 or so years from now.

Usually he doesn't say anything or he gets angry and says absolutely not (as we would maybe be up to 4 dogs, 1 around 15 years, 1 around 7 years, and two pups). But he also knows me very well and understands that animals may just appear in our house one day lol.

So this time I brought it up again, I said we could resolve this ahead of time amicably, or we could just wait for the inevitable to happen- one day he walks in and there is another puppy in our house! So I offered buying him something for one of his hobbies in exchange for him not giving me **** about getting a puppy. And I believe he agreed as he did not say anything like no, but instead started talking about what he wanted!

I win!

Excellent idea! I will have to employ this tactic. Congrats on the win! Lol
