The dog musing/vent thread

If we're talking about breeds that should exist, I need Hanks to be a breed. I would quite literally only have Hanks and be perfectly content. I just don't meet dogs with his temperament often though. Bits and pieces of what I like but not the whole deal.
Of course I could take some more off leash reliability but no dog is perfect, right? lol

My friend's race bred Whippet is one of the most reliable off leash dogs I know. I'm sure she'd chase a bunny in front of her, but so would most other dogs I know. So, not all sight hounds are terrible off leash. To be honest, the worst off leash dogs I've ever known have been pointing breeds and spaniels.
When the chiro and massage therapist say your dog is coming along perfectly and they are super impressed with the muscle tone and attachments at this point. Keep doing what you are doing and your girl should be fine are the best words ever spoken, especially considering a week ago she seemed to take a wrong step on the other shoulder and pulled a muscle and was lame for a few days. Gimmick has a trick that we call "Shrimp Dragon" where he leaps onto my back from behind and perches his front feet and head over my shoulder. So my stupid self decided it was time to teach a "Glitch Dragon"
Of course, since he's so young, we don't want to do too much jumping yet. The daycare yard has thee tiers, about 2.5 feet high. Perfect for me bending over and basically encouraging him to walk onto my back.
Glitch immediately got how to be a Glitch Dragon. Unfortunatly, the large blue tick hound, also wanted to be a dragon and basically crushed me Poor thing was so endearingly confused about why Glitch got treats and he didn't. Maybe because Glitch didn't crush my boobs into my kneecaps.

Last night I was brushing Ru's teeth when I noticed that the front of his lower jaw is sort of...bendy. When I press on his clean white incisors, they all flex together. Like a lizard with metabolic bone disease. He has an appointment for a dental estimate in Tuesday, base price is $400. Maybe I'll get a discount for his teeth being so clean and beautiful?
Vent: Rook's right rear leg is having a ton of issues and I am 95% sure we need to go with amputation at this point, which further complicates my efforts to get her in a custom mobility cart. The vet warned me she'd be likely to struggle with pressure ulcers eventually, but wound care is exhausting. There's hardly any happy medium that allows everything to work (bandages too tight vs too lose on an active dog that eats everything... like bandages.) I found a supplement plan that finally gets her stool soft, but it gives her gross gas.
Vent: Zoe's corneal ulcer is refusing to heal properly, and if it's not better at the next expensive check-up she has to get sedated and have a grid scratched onto her eye and possibly have her third eyelid sewn over as a patch and be in a cone for 2-3 weeks. I am giving her drops every two hours when I am awake. Oh, and today she decided the Ichon shots hurt.
Then peanut butter and it was all better.
Awesome stuff I try to focus on: I think the Ichon is helping Zoe, and Rook did AMAZING at the ORT. Now if only there weren't a rule change about dogs in diapers that prevents her from ever competing. Oh wait, this part is the good news. My dogs are happy. Who needs to pay bills or eat food?

So I found a breeder that seems to produce EXACTLY what I want and sounds like a dream come true. She even shares a whole lot of my views/ideas about general dog ownership like vaccinating schedules, feeding, spay/neuter times, etc.
Drawback: website says she does not have internet or email access at home, is a school teacher and out of work for most of the summer, leaves no phone #. So... I wait until September to hear back?
