i am so glad you took the time to do your first sketch. I think there is something "extra" translated through the artist that isn't caught with the camera. This is a sketch that shows the love and respect between your two dogs. That was the whole reason i wanted to make my new year's resolution to start sketching again on a regular basis. All those little sketches of Bronki now are all that i have left..they mean more to me then all the photos because i spent time studying him..and learning his physical language as well as his appearence if that makes any sense. So much is missed otherwise. I can close my eyes and see the lines of his smile, the sworls in the hair on his chest for i drew them so many times. Shading is not hard..if you want i can pm you with some tips of the trade..
YOur monkey is just precious. The sketch lines expressive more then you know!!!!! Hyia my grandaughter wanted me to tell you how much she loved seeing your monkey and she spent time here trying to draw some of her own! I worked at the kansas city zoo for awhile where i cared for two marmoset monkeys..they were very tiny. We were told never to look them in the eye so i would look up they would look at me and i would have to look down. It was so frustrating for their faces were so human (like wise little old men) and i wanted to study them., but i also wanted to be friends too so down i kept my eyes. You have done fabulous work i think and enjoyed seeing very much.

YEA YEA, can u teach me how to shade. i never draw for long after secondary sch. i bought the drawing pad the other day and some water color, but i dont know how to color, so i just shade.
or u can even take my drawing shade then teach me. i like art but i think need lots of practise. i found jojo more easy to draw then russell. can u teach me . thanks.

i will gladly send some tips to you ..unless others want me to post them on here..either way! Be happy to. I know so much about some things and it is knowledge just rolling around in my head that no one seems to want at home. My children don't want to draw and have no interest..someone should benefit from those years in classes besides me!

Wow, everyone here are so talented and I love the expressions that you all have in your sketches.

Last year I discovered paint shop and spent more time then I should of doodling. It was very relaxing. I'd start off just hand drawing a sketch on paper then scanning it and then painting it through paint shop pro. I haven't done much drawing in a while, ever since we've changed over to our new pc and I still haven't downloaded paint shop on it. Now if only I knew how to doodle in expression like you all do, that's fabulous.

This one I didn't sketch out first. I tried drawing it directly off paint. It wasn't easy; my hand/mouse coordination ain't too great.

YOu do waaaay better in paint then i do, i adore your graphic style!!!!! GReat sketches and it was fantastic seeing you take them on out, your horse is excellent with very few shades!

i wonder what you could do with paintpro!!!!! i couldn't figure it out and ended up using adobe photoshop and painting basically in pixels i know there has to be an easier way..

Just so all of you real artists can feel better about yourselves, I'm posting my lame attempt at sketching Sawyer. He rolled over half way through and I had to improvise on a lot of this.

that is not a bit lame!!!!! You made me tickled pink that you posted your sketch! If you ever want me to show you some tricks of the trade just let me know! I would love to share. The most important is everytime you try you get a bit better..that is the BEST part of being an artist you don't go backwards. I know those months that i sketched everyday were the fastest improvement i have ever made and i had fun too. Since i was at work i used one of those 10 color pens..the fat one that you could slide down different sections for different colors. I still like a couple of those too..
They never hold still long enough Zoom! sometimes i will work on one for months catching them anytime i can when they resume the same position. That is what made my Mary portrait so important to me for i did it from life..it took 6 months of touching up a little now and then..anytime she was looking at me the exact same way and i could look up on the wall and see what needed fixing.

Please? I found a set of sketching pencils when I was cleaning everything out of my room. I used to draw quite a bit, and you're right about the improvement. I'd love to get back into it!
