i'd like to teach lou to stay in whatever command i've given her until i've given her the release cue. i thought i'd just give the command and then delay the click more and more. it's working okay with "go lie down" but sit is tough. i'm not sure she even knows the difference between sit and down. if i tell her to sit, she sits and if i don't click IMMEDIATELY she goes into a down. if she is in a down she WILL NOT go directly into a sit without a lure.
so my questions are:
is my delaying the click after she complies a good way to teach the auto-stay? (jeez it just dawned on me i should be giving the release cue)
any alternate ideas?
