Yes you have the right point, too many people use their dogs to get them out of a mess rather than getting a full time job. Those are the people that need a swift kick where it belongs. Have a dog, love the dog and care for the dog. Don't expect the dog to care for you!

I wholeheartedly agree! Especially since I've seen too many forums where that is exactly the case. :(

I haven't been on here much lately, but I do think this forum is a little anti-breeding compared to the other forums i visit. Not in a bad way though. I'm not sure how bad byb'ing is over where you guys live. Here its pretty bad though.
The other forums all have registered breeders there, with the occasional byb coming on for info. The byb's get their talking to, get helped out, and end up getting their dogs desexed.

Ok, I'll probably get my head blown off here. *Hides* Buts its my honest opinion.

:)

We have quite a few registered breeders on here, but we also have a TON of byb's coming in for information. Quite a few get their talking to and then go speuter their pets. Some get pissy because all they were looking for was "aww puppies that's awesome!" and they didn't come to the right place for that type of reinforcement. *shrug* It might be harsh, ok sometimes we are too harsh, but all in all...someone has to be.

is this why nobody has really bothered to comment on the puppy pictures i put on yesterday.
I hope you dont think they are an accidental breeding, i went to alot of time and effort to get a good litter from a champion stud dog with my very well bred bitch and had 4 excellent puppies from her.
I am not a registered breeder and i chose to breed as i felt i wanted to pass on the quality of type and temprement of my girl which i belive i have.
I do intend to breed from my st bernard but only after she has been shown and proves she is of suitable quality, i bought her from top lines and will only put her to the stud dog that her breeder is satisfied with.
I would like to think i will get support and friendly advice here as i too think there are way too many badly bred dogs.
I work for the rspca so see the ammount of unwanted breeds and 'designer' breeds but it doesnt mean i wont breed but rather it means i will put more effort into doing it correctly.

Settle down Holly...you posted your pictures VERY early in the morning on a US holiday weekend...the entire board is a bit slow right now. Very few threads are getting lots of replies. Be a little patient and the replies will come.
