die die die my darling!!!

NICE

Dakota... Anywhere not a a shallow bone is fine. Also how long the tat takes will affect the level of pain...

Often times the needle doesn't hurt but the constant rubbing to remove blood can make the skin raw. Your tat looks simple enough that i wouldn't worry to much...but stuff with lots of hours/ colors etc will be pretty raw by the time your done.

do you bleed alot?

I think that would be a beautiful tribute. :)

Don't rush it. I thought about one of my tattoos for almost 4 years before the actual design just came to me. In fact, I was working the lab at the clinic when it came to me and I drew it on a napkin right then & there. Even thought I had known what I wanted, I didn't know the specifics until that point in time.

If it's meant to be, it will come to you. ;)
I'm definitely not going to rush it. I'll have to draw up some ideas and think on it. I think it'd be a great tribute and definitely very meaningful to me.

I usually don't bleed alot unless its a deep cut. lol

I don't know if anyone can tell, but does anyone know how it'll take for that tattoo do? Estimate based on the size it is in this thread, if you have to.
I'm just curious.

It looks like its going to be nice Dak.

I've wanted something for Panda since I lost him over 18 months ago, I think I have finally worked out what I want, but have no idea how to translate it into what would look good as a tattoo. At this stage I want it over my collarbone though.. so thats gonna be fun.

I know what I want, roughly. I know exactly who I want to do it and where I want it to go. Now I just have to go visit her :D

Dak, I got my first one done down the outer part of my left leg, along the calf muscle longways. It didn't hurt at all. In fact, I got fussed at for giggling because at times it tickled like hell, lol. :p

PS, I love the butterfly. What a lovely tribute.

You might want to ask the tatooer to add some color in it and maybe write: BE FREE, something to that effect. I have three, one of two of my parrotts on my shoulders, a hummingbird eating juice from a flower on my right outside calf. It is nice.

I got a tattoo on my thigh. That hurt. Granted I was sicker than a dog when I got it done and everything hurt.

Most common thing said in the body modification industry:

Pain in personal.

To me? Yes. It's worth all of it. I love being a canvas personally.

To me it is. But I will only get one when I know we are financially secure and all the boys and dogs needs and most of their wants have been taken care of. Which is why I've held off on this new one for a bit.

Mine have very personal meaning to me and truthfully I never expect(ed) to share them with anyone. No one else ever entered my mind when considering any of my 3 tattoos.

I have 3: one on the hipbone (maybe a tad too low  ), and one on each side of my lower back. My back will be my canvas for my future tattoos. :)

As far as length of time to get them done...depends on the amount of detail. That butterfly picture looked like it had a lot of detail. And colour will make it take longer, too. Mine have a fair amount of detail and colour and both together (each are about the size of the palm of your hand - minus fingers of course) and they took 5 hours total. So I'd guess something that size and detail would take at least a couple of hours.

Is it really worth it folks ??? The cost and the pain ??
Oh god YES!!

I think on it as.. A) It's a once in a lifetime investment.. Unless of course you get the bug like me and get several.. ;)

B) It lasts forever.. We have all spent money on things that were expensive and ended up throwing away.. How bad does that feel huh?!

C) It's a good reminder of things, you remember where you were, what you were feeling and when you had it done.

I was so proud of myself when I lost all my excess weight to have my belly tattoo done, it proved to myself that I could now be proud of my new flat tummy and with a tattoo, I now have a reason to show it off! ;) It was my special treat to myself, and I LOVE it as much today (5 years on) as I did when I first got it.. It's still fab!

My mother and father are totally anti tattooing, my dad sees it as body mutilation  but even my mum had to admit that my belly tattoo rocks!!

Is it worth it when you buy art? Often what one person LOVES and wants to hang in their house (or on their body) someone else HATES. Art is so personal. What is more personal than art on you? Art that you can take everywhere you go and for always?

The only people I know that ever regretted it are people who went to a less than stellar tattoo artist. Its not that they don't like tattoos its that they don't like the one they got.
