I love that one too, Carrie! There are lots of "vintage" types of bathing suits, some that are pretty much just modern skimpy ones with polka dots. I love as close to what they really were like as possible. They're harder to find than you'd think!

I want that one...the black and white photo! Where do I buy it? LOL. Some of the vintage suits I don't like...the really long ones where you hardly see any leg. (My legs are the only part of my figure that are any good.):D But there sure are a lot of cute and flattering ones too. This is a fun thread!:)

Oh did you guys mean just other more conservative styles? I didn't realize before I posted..

SORRY!

In that case, Mod Cloth has this one I really like the style of
. I usually only wear it at pool parties and stuff with my little cousins (because I'll be running around and gorging myself on cake and don't want to even think about sucking it in lol)

It's a one piece and the top is really great, it kind of "wears" like a shirt and goes a bit over the bottom part.. and the whole thing is really comfortable :D
I really like this one, but wish it was 2 piece.

My current swimsuit is a halter tankini and a skirt bottom. I like to be covered, but could not imagine wearing the "modest" swimwear. Last summer was my first time with the skirted bottom, and just the amount of water it holds, I could not imagine wearing a dress and shorts/legging things in the pool! I also prefer separates, just because it is so much easier to get on/off.

I want that one off of modcloth! I don't like being super exposed when taking my son to the pool. I feel like I'm on display and we are there tohave fun! Not to get weird looks from everyone.

Currently I just rock a bikini. Sometiems sorts over top. I wear one of those triangle tops too but I am very lucky to not need much support on top so I get away with it

Fran it can totally be any style you like, not just the older styles or modest whatevers. :) And I bet you rock that bikini. That second one is super cute too! I like the print. Oh man, I love all those cool vintage ones everybody found.

I bought this one last year and I LOVE it. Well, after losing weight, it doesn't fit too well anymore, but I love the look and will probably buy another one like it:

I had a swimsuit that looked halfway decent on me, it was a one piece tank with a longish skirt and while I liked the look, the skirt drove me nuts. It was really cold when I got out of the water. Now I wear a tankini with a shorter skirt. I was afraid the tank part would ride up on me but it doesn't. I spend my summer in my bathing suit and I am in and out of the water most days so I need something I don't have to pull up or down constantly. I have gained a few pounds since last summer so I hope I don't need to go buy another suit this year. I hate bathing suit shopping.

I wear one basically like the 2nd one in the picture with the skirty thing. I'm really self conscious and I don't like my body so I usually wear shorts with it lol! Working on that though. :) I dont think I'll ever wear a bikini though. I'd be so scared my boob was going to fall out. XD

What I REALLY want, is a costume with bra type top. I HATE the lack of support in most swimwear, and I hate the price of swimwear with support!!!

Okay Fran, you are going to pick out swimwear for me from now on. I didn't even know underwire support existed in swimwear. Not that I have much that needs to be supported...but it would be nice to make it look like more is there. ROFL

Basically, I'll wear anything I feel secure and comfortable in. The bottom needs to not give me a wedgie and the top needs to be comfortable and not in danger of falling off (and I LOVE halter tops - straps tend to fall off my shoulders at inopportune moments). I've only become comfortable with my body recently so I used to just always wear tankinis (and I wanted to wear a short/skirt type bottom due to my hips), but now I love my bikini. ^^

I have this style:

I generally try to avoid wearing a bathing suit. But I joined the YMCA this year and my favorite place to be is in the pool so I've decided to just say F it and go. I have a black swimsuit that's a one piece and it has a little half skirt only in the front. I really like the vintage one piece suits. I'm plus sized. Anything that is more modest (Except that Muslim garb) is fine by me.

Great thread! I despise bathing suits, I am not comfortable with where my body is at right now, so I never go to public pools :\ But my dad has an inground pool and for the past two years, I've ended up swimming in short exercise-type shorts and some kind of a tank top or t-shirt. But this year I really wanted to get something so my tan isn't all whacky and some of these are GREAT! I didn't even know some of these styles existed. Definitely no bikini for me!
