I need some information on supplements for a young dog with elbow dysplasia and iffy hips. Very active young dog, not showing any symptoms.

The things I have read/heard/been recommended:
Coconut Oil
Fish Oil (300 mg/10 lbs...as much as 1000 mg per 10 lbs of body weight.)
Vitamin E (100 IU to a small dog, 200 IU to a medium-sized dog, or 400 IU to a large dog)
Vitamin C (best to use one of the ascorbate forms, such as calcium ascorbate or sodium ascorbate, rather than ascorbic acid)
Vitamin B-50
Chondroitin/GlucosamineHyaluronic Acid (instead of glucosamine...2 to 20 mg per day for large dogs)

This needs to be as cost effective as possible. Is there something like Nupro Joint Support that sufficiently combines some of these things to be useful? I have also heard that horse versions of some of these things would be beneficial? I need dosages as well.

Any and all info would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Huh, anyone that reads this thread now that it's activated due to spam - I already figured out what I want to supplement with/how much and have started.

I have a friend with a Belgian boy with elbow dysplasia who just looked into the most cost effective way to supplement him. She ended up buying everything in packages for horses.

Vitamin E powder

Omega 3

Cosequin

She said that while the cost up front is dramatically more for such large containers, it will last her a very long time.

I swear by Dasuquin and Grizzly Pollock oil lately. I alternate between feeding beef liver for Vitamin E and using a supplement.

Thanks! :) I came to the same conclusion. I am giving Vit E, Vit B complex, Salmon/Fish Oil, Coconut Oil, and I'm trying this supplement from Clean Run

The unfortunate but also good thing is - he's not showing symptoms so I won't really know if they're helping or not. I'm just hoping they are.
