Hello everyone,,
Meet Reggie! We have had him for 4 months now and making good progress in dealing with his guarding and growling issues. However we are stumped in how to deal with his stubbornness! Our vet/trainer wanted Reggie to sit for EVERYTHING! Which he will do for a treat automatically but without one he is hit or miss if he does it. For example when we come back from a walk I try to make him sit before entering the house and taking his harness off but he just stares or looks then other way. He is a 7 years old and a rescue from a hoarding situation and we dis basic obedience classes at the beginning and he certainly understands the concept as if he will immediately sit without asking if we have food!. My question is do we go back to basics and use treats for every instance we want him to sit at and then slowly limit the treats over time or if he doesn't sit he doesn't get a treat and wait it out?
