That is just awesome, wish the poor dog coulda been adopted too. It's also very sad about the rate of abandoned babies. :(

This story has been all over the news today -- how AWESOME is THAT?! It showed a Kenyan guy kind of loving on the dog. I hope she and her pups get taken care of! Talk about God's Guardian Angels at work!!!

I just saw the video on that on Comcast! What a great dog! Dogs are so awesome, I am so glad when they play those stories, I hate seeing dog mauling stories. They need to do more stories where the dogs are portrayed in a good light.

Isn't that wonderful? I saw that too in the newspaper. It's amazing how mammals seem to know about and want to nurture babies....any kind of baby. It's really quite universal across the animal kingdom, isn't it. You hear of even wild animals caring for human babies or another specie's baby sometimes. It's really something!

I want to know what happened to dog and it's puppy!!!!! no one seems to know. Surely she has been taken in by someone that will treasure her always..but i would still like to know for sure. The fact that she carried that newborn all that way without harming it still astounds me.it isn't like it was a puppy...just as much as her cleaning and feeding the infant. I know people will think i am nuts for saying it..but in my heart i believe that dogs are angels..sent here to guide and watch over us. She is one of the reasons i believe that so strongly..that and the dogs i have known in my past..now all the religious people can blast me..but it won't change that i believe this to be true.

I don't think you're nuts at all. There are sooooo many like stories. I am not religious in that sense. I am spiritual, but not in a conventional, organized, religious way. But, I still don't think you're nuts. After all, what are angels.....really?

I think animals of most all types have a bond of some kind toward babies of any type... a sense or instinct to protect and nurture. (Of course, not all. Some animals EAT others, including babies!)

But I heard about some moose protecting a young boy who was lost in the woods in the snow. (moose are often "aggressive" toward humans)The two moose lay down next to him and close to him to keep him warm until rescuers came. You've probably heard many stories about wolves (Ramulus (sp?) and Remus) and others, where the wolves took care of human children. And primates....And horses. There have been horses who protected and saved humans as well as other animals. You see things on the news about unlikely animals bonding and taking care of the young of another specie. I've seen that on animal planet, a whole show about unlikely animal bonding. It's quite amazing.

There's got to be, in some individuals within various species, some kind of instinct or drive to protect others, no matter what specie it is that they're protecting. What makes some that way and other not, is a mystery. Those individuals must be the angels. Or, if not angels...something else "out of this world" special. LOL.
