I've been taking Centrum multivitamins for years. For the past month (new bottle), I've been getting a stomach ache no matter how I take one (lots of food, liquid, etc).

I googled this and found other having the same problem. I called the company up and they took down all my info saying they've never heard this before. They changed their formula increasing somethings and decreasing others.

Has anyone else experienced this from Centrum?

What multivitamin do others recommend? I don't want to continue Centrum.

Thanks
Barb

More iron maybe? Some people's stomachs are bothered when they take iron.

After having been pregnant and having morning sickness, I just take two children's gummy multivitamins instead of one adult. It tastes better. :p Also, I can't help but feel that without the binders and coatings that adult vitamins have, the gummies are probably easier to absorb.

i stopped taking multivits for the same reason, i was fine for about a year then became sensitive, so i changed breands and the same problems...
and being its a multivit, there was no way to figure out what was causing it...

after talking to a dr about it, some people are aparently sensitive to high dosese of certain vitamins and i was told it would be best to take simple 1 kind pills...
yes its a pain and a little more expensive...but...

he suggested i start with taking the basics all women should, folic, calcium with D, C and B...start taking the calcium with D, then add the c if no upset, then the B, then the folic ect...add them back in one at t a time...
if all goes ok with that start adding the others in again, 1 pill at a time...if one upsets your stomach stop taking it...

i now take calcium w/ D, a Multi B vit, Vit C, Folic Acid, a mixed oil (fish, flax and something else) and ginko, i found all the others either gave me an upset tummy or a migrane.

I've never found a multi vitamin that doesn't make me sick to my stomach. I'm currently using the One a Day brand (prenatals now, was using women's formula before) and they are fine for me as long as I take them after a somewhat heavy meal (full lunch, not just a snack).

Never had a problem with any kind of multi-vitamin. I take a store brand equivalent of the One-A-Day Men's Health.

I can not take them on an empty stomach or even with a bit of something. I have changed to jiroffa alpha omega all because my doctor told me to and because it is a gel cap of powder instead of a rock..you take 3 a day. IT doesnt' bother me at all no matter when i take it.

Now if i take 4 nystatins on top of my two antibiotics i have to sit there and concentrate on not losing it. SUcks.

I have the same problem with multi-vitamins...they hit my stomach, don't agree and I usually get sick enough to vomit from them. The Centrum cardio ones don't bother me that much as long as I take them with a full meal (not like a snack, but a good sized meal) The rest of them though, blech.

Do you eat a big meal first? YOu should anyway so they have something to work with. ANd the gel cap with powder makes a ton of difference.

Thanks everyone. Smkie, I've tried everything from small to huge meals. It's something Centrum did when they changed their dosages last month.

I went to the health food store by me and they said to take a multivitamin with whole food concentrates in them. They gave me samples of Life's Fortune multivitamin & mineral.

I'm so confused. We already take an Omege-3 and also calcium. I just want a multivitamin for the extra I'm not getting from food.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm going to look into all your suggestions.

I am sure they have a website..check mine out Barb. My doctor is going to Columbia university to teach and i believe especially about immune systems. THis is the what he wants me to take. It has the traces as well as d-3 and half a dozen things i never heard of before. I do believe i feel better on this than i did on centrum. IT is not just for messed up people like me, but for everyone.

IT is gelcap and powder which is way more effective in digesting than a rock.

Smkie is this it:

Dr. Charles L. Crist, MD

Alpha Omega All
This multiple vitamin and mineral product is the cornerstone for all supplements. (I recommend it without iron because only a small percentage of Americans are iron deficient, and excess iron is toxic.) Everyone should be on this, either by itself or with other supplements.

120 CAP $23.70
180 CAP $44.20

YUp that's it. ANd honestly it is the only supplement where i actually noticed a difference.
I still take calcium and vit d-5 on top of that but this is my mainstay. I usually got a stomach ache from centrum. Never knew if it was because i have a medicne stomach in the first place or not. But this has never bothered me at all.

Thanks. I was hoping his site would say what's in it, but it only lists the name without the ingredients.

This is the one of the very few multivitamins I've ever seen that was worth taking. SUPERSEAVEG.COM - OFFICIAL FARMASEA® COMPANY SITE - SUPER SEA VEG

If you really look at the sources and see how non-usable most of the "nutrients" in Centrum and products like them are, you start seeing that they're the vitamin equivalent of Science Diet.
:rofl1: Have you read some of the testimonials on that site? It would appear that Sea Veg can cure serious respiritory disorders and uncollapse collapsed lungs.. :rofl1:

I wonder if sea veg heals broken bones too?

Become like superman, eat Sea Veg, and become invincible.. :rofl1:

My father in law works as one of those guys that climbs down into the sewer and unclogs the poo clogs.

One thing he always was amazed at, was the number of undigested centrums down there. He said most of the vitamins in the sewer were so intact that you could read the brand on them.

That is why I take the kid's gummy ones....with liquid cal/mag and liquid vit D supplements.

Hadn't read those, lol. All I read was the ingredients/source type info :rofl1:

I can tell when I've missed a day taking them, though. The only other thing I've ever noticed that about as far as a multi type thing goes was the Animal Packs I used to get.
