As some people know, I have been an animal trainer for a long time. This is not what I am speaking about here, just some experience.
I have not been on this forum for a long time, only on the chat room. I do feel, however, that there is vast information to be learned from here.
As for that, I want to share a little secret that I have been using for years. I have read so many training questions on here, and every bit of information helps. I will say, I know many, just as some of you may know.
One of my favorites is (yes, an Amy thing): Asking a pet owner... "What IS the most important thing you give to your dog?" I hear: food, companionship, water, love, care, responsiblity, etc....
What I NEVER HEAR....
what is something so important, something so vital and crucial.
There are a lot of things we can give our dogs, but the most blessed event, is GIVING THEM A NAME. Yes, giving them a NAME is crucial to training and obiedience. There is almost nothing as sacred to a dog, or even humans for that matter than giving them a name or identity. Use that with training, it does make a difference.
If anyone has questions, feel free to email me.
