One of my all-time favorite dogs was Lola, the Rottwelier here. The little guy playing with her in the upper left is Nicky, who is about 8 now.

And below is NIcky again, with our other current dog Lilly, from the very good shelter in our town. Lilly is said to be Bassett Hound and Blue Heeler. She loves to play.

Hello. It was quite a blast from the past to see this message come through. I still like message boards- I am active on a cruise message board and definitely see their value. The original reason I left was there seemed to be a lot of judgment at the time if you didn’t do everything the way a select few expected. I currently have a 9 month old shih tzu bichon cross. His name is Kitty. 80BDD544-8907-4388-851E-C07D3065A96A.jpeg

Cute Shitz! Thanks for coming back and posting your thoughts. You able to stick around more and post what you been up to and what pets you have over the years since being on this forum?

Post up a new thread about it if you like.

About 4 years ago. We still miss her!
Totally understand. Lost all 3 of my Goldens(2 in my avatar) years ago and still miss them to. Sadie(Mom), Buster and Lexi. Buster lived to be 15 and had to put him down about 2 years go. All 3 were just awesome friends!

To get most of you back posting here again? I took over the site about a year ago and what to get this site up and active again. I plan on sending out emails trying to let everyone know that we are still here, and that I hope to get this forum active again. I know it won't be as active as it was in the past, due to life changes, FB, IG, and other social media sites, but I know we can get some activity back!

So let me know what you think I need to do to get this place active again. Would love to hear your ideas!
I am a member of other dog sites and most you can up load movies (video's) that you can see the real side of humor rather than a still worth your consideration. Cheers Dave

@Shaggy @ACooper I faintly remember getting an email about you trying to revive this forum but for whatever reason I didn't respond at the time. Busy with COVID-19 maybe?

I had to use one of my secure virtual machines because I'm getting malicious advertisements that you can accidentally click on when not using an ad blocker. They are advertisements for fake web browser updates. The advertisements are large and annoying as well.

I still do love web forums. Facebook is a behemoth now, especially with Facebook groups. You need something unique to compete with a site that now has over 2 billion users across the planet. I imagine there could always be a niche for web forums, heck some people might used them out of nostalgia in the years ahead.

Web forums enable long interesting discussions that can last years which just doesn't happen on Facebook.

I used to like the dog forums out there that had an off topic section that was invisible to search engines. One could carry out semi-private discussions with the threads and it did create a sense of community within the forum.

One perk I have seen some existing forums provide is an *option* for sign in with Facebook, sign with google, etc. Personally, I'd prefer to sign in without third parties but it is an option that would make it more convenient for some people to regularly visit Chazhound.

My suggestions are:

- Working on the advertisement situation. A lot of people use ad blockers nowadays, especially with the malicious advertisements.

- A sign in with Facebook option and other sign in options.

- Make the off topic section visible to members only.

- A game section. The thread games that I used to see on dog forum are impossible on Facebook.

- Making the forum more usable on desktops and mobile phones.

- The MyBB forum software looked interesting when I looked into it in the distant past.

- My web browser is saying parts of Chazhound are insecure. Partial padlock.

*I may add more over time*

@Shaggy I'd save an archive of this forum on web archive If you fail at making this forum active again. Chazhound has threads dating back to 2004. Web forums are a part of history and people might be curious about it in the decades ahead. :)
