My mom got a new dog today! Some people got him from somewhere where a teenage boy used to beat him. Rocky is shy but he seems to have a good temperament. We took Daisy to their house today to meet him, and they got along great, so we brought him to my parent's house. Of course, once on her territory, Daisy decided to be a bitch. She didn't hurt Rocky, but it sounded ugly, as one dog snapping at another can. I told my parents to keep Rocky gated in the living room with them and keep Daisy on the other side of that babygate for at least a few days, give them a chance to get to know each other while making sure that Daisy won't scare Rocky with more bitchiness. We let the cats meet Rocky, and the senile one didn't care, and Petey the young one got up on higher ground and stood there with his back slightly arched with this look on his face like "wtf is that doing here??" lol

But anyways, here's three pics. Any breed guesses? We think he has some scottish terrier features, otherwise we aren't sure.

He's cute, but I don't have any breed suggestions.

Haha, in the first pic it looks like one of his legs is missing. It's hidden perfectly.

Chow! He has black spots on his tongue, he has to be a purebread pocket Chow.

;)

Scottie and I almost want to say Brussels Griffon for some reason.

Just state the obvious, why don't cha? :lol-sign:

Well, I was thinking Affenpinscher mix, so Brussels isn't so strange. Going with more popular breeds, I'd guess there's some Schnauzer in there. Something about his head has me thinking maybe some Boston Terrier, or even Pug. Except for the ears and color, I really don't see Scottie.

He looks like a scruffy APBT. XD

Congrats on the new dog!
OMG you're right, he DOES! Lol

I see boston too. Boston x schnauzer? He's so cute and scruffy looking!
I'm beginning to think he really might have Boston Terrier in him, after Dixie's APBT comment. :p You can't tell because of the coat, but his back legs have crazy muscle!

I had Rocky here at the apt today while my mom was at a dr's appointment. He was good, he just laid here. His MO, when he's uncomfortable, seems to be to just shut down and lay there and let life happen, poor guy. Miles the pom did what he always does when a dog comes over, he hid behind the couch and barked. lol

I would say Cairn Terrier mix. Cute little guy.
I had a Cairn Terrier when I was growing up. When I saw these pictures, my first thought was also Cairn mix. Something about that face. :)

And might I say this: I LOVE scruffy terrier mixes! :D

On another thought, are Patterdale Terriers located where you live? He also has that look to me (a mix, but still the look).

I'm with you on that. That head is something completely un-Scottie!

Cute dog though!

The ears are the only thing that makes me think boston. With as much coat as he's got, I'd say he's got something wirehaired on both sides because you usually end up with a middling amount of coat when crossing a wirehaired dog to a smooth. One or both parents could definitely be mixes though. It wouldn't surprise me with as much blending people have been doing with small dogs lately.

He's totally adorable! I love the expression on his face. He looks really happy to be with you guys.
