I am so incredibly proud of Baloo. I've had moments of pride for my dogs before (I'm usually quite proud of Chevelle), but I've never been SO proud of Baloo before. In only a few days "It's Yer Choice" is really starting to make a HUGE impact on him. He's gone from an impulsive mess to a dog that can sort of control himself in so little time. It's strengthening my bond with him, and his with me. He's paying a lot more attention to me, because he's trying to figure out what *I* want from him more than he ever has before.
I rode my bike with him today, and he continually looked at me for cues as to what to do when he got a little confused. Today when I was filling his food bowl, he was all wiggle butt and freakazoid for a minute, but I saw a lightbulb click on in his head and he calmed HIMSELF down. I saw the gears in his head turning and him thinking "Mom is going to give me the food so no reason for all this."
I am going to continue teaching him the clicker and IYC for a couple more weeks, and then move on to crate games and teaching him a few tricks. His recall is already improving now that I am carrying treats and his two favorite toys on me anytime he comes outside, that way he realizes "OMG Mom is so fun". He spooked at a strange cat in the yard today, and came back almost immediately after I called him. (I say almost immediately because he did think about tasty kitty legs for a second.)
So all in all, I'm so proud of my boy!
