My aunt and uncle have a 1 year old lab, you might remember me trying to help them find a breeder last winter. She always seems to sit funny. She'll sit on her bum with her legs straight forward or sit with her feet splayed out to the side and knees inward. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of her sitting "properly" with her feet under her and knees forward. Do you think this indicates a joint (knee) problem?

Purely anecdotal and I don't know if there really is any correlation but my friend had a Golden Retriever that would always sit oddly and the dog ended up tearing the CCLs of both legs. I'm pretty sure the dog has some hip problems now (she's getting up there in age, though.)

Riley tends to sit sloppy, he will sit 'correctly' if I get after him, but he's never had any knee problems (until Michaela broadsided him last year). When we were taking agility lessons, I took him to a vet who specialized in sports, chiropractic and rehab, just to get a baseline. I asked her about his sloppy sits, but after her exam, she said he was fine. Most of his sloppiness is habit, part of it is not strengthening the muscles required to sit correctly.
