Ok, so my puppy is 12 weeks old...is this too young to expect her to start sleeping through the night? So if the answer is no...can someone give me some suggestions on how I might go about achieving this!! Her crate is in our room, and when of us gets up in the middle of the night of course she wakes up and I know that doesn't help.

What breed is she? Does she sleep through the night if nobody gets up during the night?

My collie puppy is 9 months old and has been sleeping through the night very consistently for many months now. But even this week I've gotten up during the night, which wakes him up, and then he has to go outside. I think that when dogs are sleeping they don't really notice if they have to go potty; but if they get woken up, then they realize they have to go. Personally, I'm that way too. :D

My puppy is about the same age as yours - 11 or 12 weeks by anyone's best guess. He generally is making it through the night (about 10:30 - 6:30 or so), but, like yours, wakes if I make too much noise or get up myself, and then needs to go out. I've learned to stop turning my air conditioner off if I wake up cold at 3:30 am unless I feel like getting up!

Well my dog wakes up if he hears noise. I don't think that is a problem. That is a also a good time for him to go outside and eliminate.

The general rule of thumb is the number of months old that your puppy is plus 2 is the number of hours you can expect your puppy to hold his bladder. So 3 + 2 = 5hrs. My malinois puppy was 3mos yesterday and occasionally we're up at 3am, occasionally we make it through the night. I find at this age it starts getting longer really quickly. I cover Halen's crate which helps a lot if the big dogs are up and wandering around at night, and he gets one chew toy in there, which I know he wakes up and chews on until the rest of us get up.
