No, they shouldn't!!!! There are several threads on this topic in this forum. If you do some searching, you will find that no one here thinks pits should be banned anywhere.

I agree that they shouldn't be banned, and I will be surprised if anyone says that they should be banned. It is not the dog, it is the owner, but we have talked about this a lot, so if you do a search you should be able to find it.

Never  If they ban pits, what is next? I promise it wont stop there and I promise people wont stop owning them if they are banned. Everything will just go underground and the situation will worsen. First Pits, then pretty soon they will all be banned. Horrible dog owners should be banned, not the breed. Anyone can turn any breed of dog into a bad one

Hating a Breed of dog is just like hating a race of human. Its the exact same logic and that logic is flawed.

You wanna know if Pitbulls should be banned? Check out my Signature. That is a great link I found.

Also....are you Trolling for responses?

I live in Oregon and the breed banning discussion around this state is scary :(
People need to get a grip around here!

I'm in Washington and am getting a bit worried that if Oregon bans them then our state will soon follow. I really hope they don't get banned. It's senseless and just wrong!

yes i also agree pitbulls SHOULD NOT BE BANNED. Example that ppl are getting stereotyped into it is that my parents are the nicest of dog ppl they adore them, but because of the lack of education they have had on pitbulls( we've never owned one) i can't really blame them for being uneasy about the subject that pitts should be banned. it is ppl like my parents which is proving the media is going out of control even turning the nicest of dog owners against pitbulls . the news comes up with very interesting stories to prove their point. like that pitbulls were once "fighting dogs" so that instinct is built in them...nonsense like that. But im afraid its ppl like you that keep bringing the subject up( no offense) i think hopeing for some negative input on pitbulls.:(

Before they ban, they should have a law that the Pitts should be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. This would show them that there are more good pitts than bad, and weed out the bad breeders. I really feel that there should be more testing and responsible owners be rewarded in licensing . There should be more control with back yard breeding. More people are having fewer children and more dogs. Choice of breeds ( as well as choice of partners ) should not be a government issue. I'd better shut up !!!!

That good citizen test is hard to pass. My dog Sal is SUPER friendly but he has failed that test twice because he pulls on the leash and won't laydown w/o me touching him.

I would go for a temperment test though...but make all dogs pass it not just pits.

Nope, they should not be banned. The people who support the bans need to look at it this way: Even if they are not pit owners, even if they hate pits and have had bad experiences with them, the banning of the breed will only lead to the banning of MORE breeds. It's best to try our hardest to stop this now.

Pitties have been banned from many provinces in Canada.
I personally think it is BS that they are being banned, or forced to wear muzzles in public.

The pittie breed is an awesome family dog, great gaurd dog, and perfect pet companion. It is how people raise the animal to act. Pitties are not evil, people are.

Grammy, I don't know what all is included in the CGC test, but I will guarranty you that mine would never pass!

And as far as the grrrrls go, Filas have a separate TT that is completely different from the 'regular' TTs, lol!
