Shelter Emergency!!!!
Many many dogs and cats poured in on Friday and Saturday at the Chattooga County AC Shelter. The Director called me Saturday morning to say they will be putting at least 20 dogs down, and even more cats at 8:00 Monday morning. They will not wait, and they cannot hold. They are completely out of space. Cats are being kept in carriers on the floor! There is no space to hold any, and the vet won't board any.
There are many dogs that aren't pictured below. At least 9 dogs have come in since the pictures were taken. There is another Lab mix female that we skipped over by accident too. And there are several being held for court cases. And a lady turned in 25 of her mother's cats, since mom had to go to the hospital for heart surgery.
This shelter can only have 38 dogs at one time, and 24 cats. Please help if you can, and please pass this along to anyone who may be able to help.
Please Note: The shelter has new hours, and is open on Monday until 6:00 pm and is closed on Wednesdays!

Maimie's Pups 08-0256 Maimie got rescued but her pups are still here. They were very unused to human contact when they first came in but now they will let you pet them and pick them up and they will take treats from your hand. They are good looking dogs and deserve a chance. They have been wormed and had their 2nd puppy shots.

Puppies 08-0311 Two little lab girls came in with a Border Collie mix who has been rescued now. These 2 are still waiting. They were 2 of our 'Painters' who created paintings that were auctioned at our Paws for Art Charity event to raise money for low cost spays and neuters. (Painting was followed by a bath in a wading pool. That is why the water is a funky color.)

Radar 08-0298 Radar seems to be a Doberman / Shepherd mix or a Rottie shepherd mix? who knows. He is a little skittish. Licks you one minute and growls a little the next.

Mitzy and Bitsy 08-0313 There are 2 of these Brindle Plott hound mix puppies. They survived being used for target practice a the local dump - now they have to survive the shelter. Both are very sweet and get along great with other dogs and kids. They were 2 of our 'Painters' who created paintings that were auctioned at our Paws for Art Charity event to raise money for low cost spays and neuters.

Candie 08-0315 seems to be a Shar Pei mix. She has the 'hippo' head. The poor thing looks like she has been bred ever time she has come into heat her whole life. She has some kind of big lump on her left side - maybe a mammary gland tumor. She is a very sweet girl. We thought at first that she was growling at us but we realized that she was just trying to talk to us and she does it all the time. Very pretty smoky color.

Trooper and Scout 08-0238 are both very nice Lab mix boys. They seem to be related - maybe father and son.

Jessie 08-0332 Jessie gets very excited when you get him out for pictures and wiggle so much you can't get a good picture. He is very friendly, gets along great with other dogs and has 'boxy' lab like ears. He is very light golden with dark golden ears.

Boomer 08-0330 Great looking Hound mix or Beagle mix puppy. He may be a big boy one day - Look at the size of those feet! He is a happy sweet boy!

Daisy just came in. She is a little frightened, but comes right to the fence to be petted. A sweet little girl. No kennel id # as of yet but her time is already up. She is a pretty little golden reddish girl - about 35 lbs probably.
Gypsy 08-0337 Gypsy is a Lab Shepherd mix maybe and is as sweet as they come. She looks like she is about 5 months maybe. Very happy girl and very playful. She would be great entertainment for your kids! And look at that face!

Ozzie 08-0349 looks like she could be a Great Pyrenees mix or a Golden mix puppy. She has some mange or other skin condition so it is a little hard to tell her breed. She is just a puppy though and has all baby teeth still. Very sweet and doesn't understand why no one will let her snuggle.

Chandler 08-0348 looks like an Aussie mix or Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever mix. Beautiful chocolate red coat. She just came in and is just frozen with fear right now.

Toby 08-0351 is a great looking big boy. He could be an American Bulldog / hound mix. He is a very very sweet boy. He was brought in with a yellow lab mix named Mitzy.

King 08-0395 looks like a purebred Doberman. He was found out in the middle of nowhere guarding a woman's sweater. The police have searched and searched but can find no woman to go with the sweater and dog. King is very sweet and loves to lean on you. He seems very sad.

Dolly 08-0361 looks like a German Shepherd / Hound mix but she has the tiniest little ears that don't go with her body at all. She is a really nice girl and is as friendly as they come. Gets along great with other dogs too.

Sargent 08-0303 Turned in as a stray. An adorable little Beagle boy and very sweet too. Gets along great with all other dogs. The shelter had told me that he had been adopted but for some reason, he is still there. Now they say he is getting put down Monday morning. HELP!!!!
