- Hi all! I’m new to this forum and am just looking for some advice and to see if anyone else has had a similar experience. I just adopted a chihuahua mix from a shelter about two weeks ago. She is 1 year old. We don’t know much about her history. She was housebroken when I adopted her. She walks pretty well on the leash and absolutely loves new people. When we come across new people on our walks, she is the sweetest thing. Not a jumper just wants to cuddle up to you and be pet and fussed over. However, if we come across another dog she just loses it, lunging and barking. I don’t have a problem with her barking but it’s incessant and she does not pay attention to me at all A lot of people have told me not to worry because she is still in a transition period. Some people tell me to discipline her, then when I read up on it it says not to. Anybody else experience this or have any suggestions?
