I think enforcing the rules is a good idea.

I think A LOT of the people here have a serious connection with each other.

Its obvious that most of your know each other pretty intimately.

I also think that is great for you guys, but extremely intimidating to noobs or outsiders. Especially to people who say the wrong thing to soon.

I've also noticed that people who don't care to indulge deeply into their personal/ non dog life are often ignored. I know I felt that way many many times.

Its honestly kinda painful to watch som'one elses thread get three pages of comments and watch yours get ignored.

Anyway. Sorry im starting to stray.

My point is I feel that better enforced rules will make everyone feel more excepted and welcomed because the playing field is leveled a bit.

:)

I see your point . There are many cliques here only because some of us are long time members and have known each other such a long time . It takes time . You've been here 6 months ..... you'll feel more comfortable as time goes on !

I completely agree, and this was the point I was trying to get across in a different thread (I think... I am sure I typed it and didn't just think it......).

Thanks guys.

I know you guys have been here forever and that why you all get along. I get it. I really do. Its really awesome for you guys. Im glad you all can connect like that...

Personally, I come to a dog forum to read/learn/discuss about dogs, and my second objective (which is very minor) is to discuss personal stuff.

Most days, when i hit "new posts" most, if not all at times are "fire hydrant" threads. I hate to attmit it, but it really disapoints me at times. I want to read a heated discussion about som'thing. It seems the only mind clashes I see is when a noob strolls in and says som'thing stupid.

Which, like i said before, is awesome for you all that know each other wonderfully. But hows a noob supposed to jump in on most of that stuff?

I know I tried many times to give compliments/ encouragement/ condolences etc etc on fire hydrant threads and then had the OP thanks all their buddies and ignore myself and other new posters. Not always. But yeah it happens, and it honestly stings.

Not trying to stir the pot. I really like you all, and i really like the idea of rules being enforced and the "people in power" being more impartial.

Everyone comes to learn about dogs, and in time, learns about other stuff too.

And I can assure you, being here a long time doesn't automatically mean we all get along ;)

I totally understand. I've experienced it on other boards - on threads that were *important* to me - regarding snake husbandry, etc. I ended up just not posting anymore, because even though there was a wealth of information on the forum, no one would ever share it. I still lurk though - I'd be an idiot not to!

On the other hand, I don't think it's fair to mandate posting, in an effort to make everyone feel included.

I try to comment on as many threads as I can. Especially with new people, I'll post even if I'm not too terribly interested in the thread itself. Not only does it make my post count look snazzy, but it might encourage the poster to stick around.

Now YOU, Crio... I've genuinely missed you! Where have you been? How are your snakes? :D

Hi Sizz! :D:D:D:D

everyone is good. Thank you for asking !

Yeah Reptile boards can be very very VERY BRUTAL. I wont even post on any. I learned fast. Two people can be saying the exact same thing and still be bashing each other. Pics are fun to look at tho.

I was spending waaay to much time online. We had just gotten our new dog and so i've dove head first into training her in my free time.

One thing about chaz (good or bad) is that you can't just peek in and leave, I end up reading friggin' everything and blow my whole day on the computer. Simply because i can't help it.

So i've been "limiting" myself to lurking while at work and not at all when at home. Its been hard not to become OCD reading this stuff.

so ya...:p

No, it's why we haven't killed each other in some cases, though ;) There are some new people I'm closer to than some who have been here for ages :)

And then there are quite a few I wish I knew better, but haven't had the chance for all the refereeing and spam wrangling. :(

That's what snared most all of us, lol!

Oh, trust me. Keep reading. There are plenty of times when it's not a "noob" who's in the middle of a brawl, and sometimes it's not even over something stupid, but more of a clash of ideals. Then we wrestle it out until everyone either comes to some sort of understanding they can live with or goes off to their corners to grumble and get ready for the next round.

Oh, and Crio? You owe us pics of that new pup ;)

Start a thread about Cesar Millan or Martin Richling. You'll get all the heated discusson you could ever want out of that. :rofl1:

No, I'm just kidding. Please. Anything but a topic about one of them.

There are TONS of great debates on this board. I think one of the major issues as of late though is that people are just really going through hard times. They need to vent about their own lives, or post something silly to lighten their burdens and what not. I know I haven't posted pics of my dogs in a while, but I've just really had a chaotic few months and a lot of times I only have a few minutes to pop in here and there and when I do, I check the Hydrant to see what's going on with everyone else.

And then I sneak over the picture section and oogle everyone's pics. Just because I didn't have time to comment on them doesn't mean I don't love them. :)
